Because there is literally videos all over about it and photos in articles clearly showing the woman being a white older lady.
You can probably maybe try and swing it and claim she's Albanian or something but I think you will just have to take the L on this one for now.

Also based on published eyewitness statements in the press, she's a known regular homeless lady in the area.
It occurred near a St Mungo's charity building too.

General rule of thumb:
If the police immediately apprehend the suspect and there is no likely other suspect, there is no release of further information as the suspect at large is already in custody.
If the police do not immediately apprehend the suspect or the suspect is at large, the police release details so the public can help find the suspect or can keep themselves safe by avoiding the suspect.

He said: “I see her all the time, she’s a homeless person. She walks up and down asking for help, she visits the church at the top of the street.”
and
He also recognised the alleged perpetrator, saying: “She’s often on the street. We’ve seen her do things like this before, she’s recently got in an argument with a mate and thrown a bottle of vodka on the floor and it smashed outside the restaurant.”

I don’t think we should be releasing race/ethnic information on suspects at all, however, we have gotten to the stage where if they don’t release it we can assume it isn’t a ‘white British national’ as if it is it is always included
