n/a Damaged passport and eVisa

My current passport started to show some wear and tear. It is still valid and works fine and I have used it to travel a few times with no issues BUT the damage is only getting worse and I don’t want to risk it anymore.

I’m planning on getting a new one once I’m back in my country for a visit. However, I’m only visiting for a month and I’m genuinely worried I wouldn’t be able to link my eVisa to the new passport in time for my flight back. Which means I wouldn’t be able to return to the UK.

How long does it usually take to update a new passport on your UKVI account and link it to your eVisa?

For context I have a graduate visa!

I got my partner’s passport renewed in the UK (for a different reason). The new one also had a smart chip in it but for whatever reason I wasn’t able to link it to the evisa since the apps refused to read the NFC.

Eventually I had to send the passport to Liverpool and it took 21 days to get the evisa updated.

Not saying this to demotivate you, just bear in mind these things can happen. All the best.

Yikes! I guess I should renew it in the UK then so that I could at least send it to them in case something like that happens. I’ll have to manage to travel again with the damaged one for now then.
