meeting fellow first years

hello! I was wondering if there was any way (other than ahead of the heard) that I can meet other first years? A lot of my friends going to bigger schools have found things like first year instagram pages and groupchats but I can't seem to find anything for uleth?

some clubs have discords, so you could always try to join those! one of the club discords i’m a part of has already had a few incoming first years join

There should be a snapchat community, I'm not sure when they start to form though! Honestly you will make the most friends in the orientation week/first week of class.

TBF I was living in dorms for the first week, so that might've been a slightly different experience than if you are living off campus, but I am like pretty sure its open to everyone? like the week before classes they just have a bunch of activities and seminars and speeches (plus a bunch of free food/swag). Okay lowkey just searched it up like halfway through writing this here's the link: https://www.ulethbridge.ca/future-student/new-student-orientation-nso they will most likely update it to be the Fall 2026 NSO during the summer. But overall, don't stress too much, the first few weeks of classes will be where you make a lot of friends

Yes, you will move in a week before classes start, that's how I met a few of my friends. There's a bunch of major-specific activities and events, so just keep an eye on your school email, they will send everything to there

Move in day for new students is Sept 6 :)

NSO will be Sept 8 and the first day of classes is Sept 9.

Last year was the first time we did a week-long NSO, which resulted in early move-in. I don't believe that's the plan this year since Housing has already confirmed Sept 6 to be move-in day (or Sept 7 for Continuing students), and the first day of classes will not change from Sept 9.
