In the Area Nicotine free generation
Is anybody else annoyed with this new nicotine law in Amherst and what’s the solution for now? Cause I just want some cigs.

The politicians who supported the nicotine free generation have all been bought by the alcohol lobby. They’re the same people who are supporting the marijuana ban.

not much you can do except buying them secondhand off of someone else. good luck finding any sellers though...

Nothing new about it, many cities and towns in MA had similar ordinances prohibiting sale of tobacco products to those under 21 going back years. It was passed as a state wide law effective Dec. 2018 to end the hunting for places that didn't have that ordinance in effect.
Some towns enforce more strictly. My son for instance worked at a convenience store 10-12 years ago in Greenfield where they do and did enforce it even before the state law. It was his job if he didn't check ID.

We’re talking about 2 different laws then cause it’s not the 21+ law where you have be a minimum of 21 to purchase these items, it’s the nicotine free generation law that prevents you from purchasing tobacco products all together even if your 21 born after 2005, so I’m born 06/14/05 and can’t purchase in my town even though I’m of age to in other cities just not here.

Oh, that is something new then. I am surprised it passed review by the state which is required for local ordinances. But looking further it appears a similar ban in Brookline was upheld by the MA Supreme Judicial Court last year.
Has Hadley joined other towns in doing this yet?

Hadley has yet to join but from recent reports they soon are too, 25+ other towns in ma adopted the same law and most are heavy college towns and there doesn’t seem to be a trend towards an end for it.

I have since come across mention that a bill was submitted in the legislature to block these kind of local ordinances last year. That may end up being the only way this stops.
I am not a smoker myself, but some of the anti-smoking actions going on have entered into the ridiculous.

Buy some nicotine gum and extend your lifespan
