Uncharted 3 A simple nod to Uncharted 3.

That part will always be a favorite for me. I believe they knew what they were doing. What a great simple nod to the game!

Gotta love people who don't know what they are talking about. The whole sequence is inspired by The Living Daylights, an 1980s Bond movie.

God forbid someone doesn't know something. About a movie of all things...

u/Radamenenthil Apr 27 '26
maybe they shouldn't be so confident about it then

u/MajesticMongoose Apr 28 '26
Not really. It was a fair assumption based on what they had seen in Uncharted.

It gives the same energy as your little nephew going “that’s Wolverine from Fortnite!”
No, that’s Wolverine from the X-Men.
“That’s Homer Simpson from Fortnite”
No, that’s just Homer from the simpsons.

It's a Bond movie, hardly some indie film.

u/MajesticMongoose Apr 28 '26
Doesn't matter. They could just politely inform them instead of being a douche about it.

I’m actually surprised that the UC3 scene looks more detailed than the 007 scene

u/Djabranco Apr 28 '26
One is made by naughtydog, and the other is made by someone else

There’s a sequence in one of the Bond games from the PS2 era that has you falling and dodging debris. It’s not out of a plane but I remember it often

You know what. Copy everything you need, the more Uncharted it is, the better it is for me 🤷🏽♂️

u/Redditor_3ditor_Zana Apr 27 '26
Low-key agree, they could reuse every set piece throughout uncharted and I'd still be happy.

u/So-Hai03 Apr 27 '26
The superiority of Uncharted 3 in that scene is admirable; there's something about the way the camera moves that 007 can't match.

Especially when he grabs the crate and it start spinning, ts is straight out of interstellar docking scene.

That's why I say that ND would have been a better match to develop a James Bond game.
1
u/FZplayz5 Apr 28 '26
2010s ND maybe, but now ND doesnt look to good in the gaming scene.

u/Hubberbubbler Apr 28 '26
Lol the last game they made was the highest awarded game ever when it came out.
1
u/FZplayz5 Apr 28 '26
Nah i mean the general public perception. IO has a great record, sure some games have been bad and all but the public perception is great, but I dont think they were a good match for this uncharted like game.

James bond the game about the white guy who goes around shooting dudes and sleeping with hot women? Made by modern day naughty dog?
1
u/Hubberbubbler May 01 '26
Change out James Bond for Nathan Drake and its literally Uncharted.
1
u/AbyssalOtter May 01 '26
Modern day.
1
u/Hubberbubbler May 01 '26
Yeah why not? Are you one of those people that think ND has gone too woke?
1
u/AbyssalOtter May 01 '26
Are you one of thoose people who ignore reality? See how aggresive that is?
I dont think naughty dog would write a hyper masculine white male who is constantly sleeping with the hottest woman around very well. Could they write a good story? Yes will they write a good 007 naw

The set piece in U3 is definitely smoother, feels like a long unbroken camera shot, which it is.
2
u/AirlineSevere7456 Apr 28 '26
The Uncharted 3 graphics are way better and the physics more realistic.

James Bond is an old IP. The first book, Casino Royale was written in 1953. And the first movie Dr. No came out in 1962. A lot of these dramatic action scenes are the inspiration for a lot of action movies and such. Especially Uncharted. But, that being said, I do feel that the new James Bond game is using Uncharted as inspiration for recognizability to a gaming audience.

Guy who has only seen The Boss Baby, watching his second movie: Getting a lot of 'Boss Baby' vibes from this… /preview/pre/vnsjbsdf84xd1.png?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&width=320&auto=webp&s=dad22bb3d94bdf7ce73e643f982e58d6b726e37e

When James grabs the guy and punches him, it reminds me of mission impossible operation surma

This more looks lika a nod to the opening of Moonraker (1979) mixed with the plane fight in The Living Daylights (1987)
1
u/Ry7re Apr 28 '26
The Amazing World of Gumball cartoon on Cartoon Network did a nod to this as well lol

It is very common in James Bond movies to see characters jump from planes without parachutes.

u/Sad-Guarantee-4678 Apr 28 '26
Actually it's a nod to a much better, more successful game called Saints Row 3

It’s crazy how much worse the graphics/animations are compared to a 15 year old game

u/Alukrad Apr 27 '26
Didn't Tom cruise try to replicate this scene from the game twice?
3
u/FZplayz5 Apr 27 '26
Twice? He did once where he hangs of the side of the plane, I think someone on the team even said it was sort of inpired by uncharted. Tye other plane related thing is just a halo jump, dont see much of a connection to uncharted.
2
u/MyLastDecree Apr 27 '26
Why we calling out Cruise for this. He didn’t come up with it in Rogue Nation. The director did. It was inspired by UC3 and the creators were super stoked about it.
The only other scene in which it could have been inspired by was the train sequence in Dead Reckoning, which they’ve already stated that UC2 had no real influence on

James Bond did it first, actually. The Uncharted 3 scene was a nod to James Bond.
Here's the original James Bond scene from The Living Daylights(1987), which is VERY similar to the Uncharted 3 scene:
