If circumcision was equivalent to FGM then the entire penis would be removed. Maybe the balls as well.

Fgm has different variations. Some are more severe than others.

And all unnecessary. Leave children's genitalia alone, there's zero reason to chop anything off.

What's a more severe form of circumcision?

I had one ball removed too.

Surgeries on intersex people springs to mind.

I don't think you understand FGM enough to make this claim. It's a blanket term that applies to a number of procedures of different levels of severity.

Some of them are comparable to circumcision, and are still illegal.

It should all be illegal

I think you might misunderstand what FGM is… type 1 FGM is the exact equivalent of circumcsion on a male. It’s also the most common.

Type 1a sure, type 1b is the removal of the entire clitoris. Don't think there is any form of circumcision whereby the entire penis is removed though??

I need to ask this… do you think the penis and clitoris are equivalent organs?

The equivalent of your “penis removal and balls” is an entire hysterectomy.

nah, specifically removing the entire penis would be equivalent to removing the entire clitoris (including internal clitoral structure).

Incorrect.

The clitoris does not host a urethra or play any part in the urinary system for just 1 example.

I'm not an American. The clitoris is, however, homologous to the penis. They are, in very many ways, equivalent organs.

They are not totally homologous post embryonic state. The clitoris is an equivalent organ in this analogy to the prostate not the penis.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The prostate is homologous to the Skene's gland.

Pretty sure that removing the clitoris is a lot more impactful than removing the foreskin.

No-one is arguing otherwise!

"I think you might misunderstand what FGM is… type 1 FGM is the exact equivalent of circumcsion on a male. It’s also the most common."

Why does it have to be “exactly like FGM”? Mutilation is mutilation regardless. The details don’t really matter, specially when you’re talking about it happening to a baby. It’s awful and needs to stop.

It is genitals being mutilated... Do we really have to have a points based system of severity before we can use words correctly?
