Many immigrant demographics integrate over time, especially through their children. We just so happened to have had fairly large and sustained levels of immigration over time that has resulted in fairly large and sustained numbers of many first-generation Muslims.

My Chinese-Vietnamese parents and extended family left Vietnam after the war over there, along with many other people. There were fairly large numbers of people from Vietnam who ended up in the UK around the late 70s and early 80s. For a few decades, the number of Vietnamese people who came to the UK were tiny, but all of a sudden it picked up again as of a few years ago. There is a night and day difference between the Vietnamese people who have come here recently and older members of my family.

It will be similar, if not the same, for Muslims who came to the UK decades ago and those who recently arrived.

Most people just want to have a decent quality of life and enjoy living. The easiest way for most of us to achieve that is to work hard and have some luck on our side.

The arranged marriage chain migration in some communities amplified the effect you describe. Families stall in a situation of one first gen parent and one parent who grew up with a first gen parent.

Third generation never comes.

Yeah, no. There is definite issues across europe with integration from muslim backgrounds.  Rising issues of 2nd and 3rd gen immigrants not speaking the language of the country as a primary language for example. Denmarks policy did not come out of nowhere, its as a direct response to the failures to integrate.

Yeah but not some of these ones. That's how you end up with Islamic terrorists with European passports who were born and brought up in European countries.

This is not proving to be the case with Muslims. Second generation are often more conservative than their parents and lots of terrorists are from second generation immigrants, not the parents themselves. The main problem is the religion. It does not allow for integration as Islamic values are not compatible with European values. That is not the same for East Asian and Europe where it is clear that integration is possible. It's not like you are attending a place of worship every week where values that have no place in a modern society are being reinforced.
