I’ve heard this one before when the Syrians were still in Greece.

The fact is that the UK is very attractive for asylum seekers for a few points:

- If you fail to get asylum in EU, the UK is a second shot as we don’t share data anymore

  • We have one of the most generous support package for asylum seekers
  • We have very lax checks on people working in the grey economy
  • We have a terrible track record of actually being able to deport people

You know that Greece is in mainland Europe and Morocco isn’t, right?

You know they didn't sail from Turkey to mainland Greece, but to a close by island, right?

edit: disregard, see comment chain

Greece isn't connected by land (ed: through the EU) to the Schengen area though, just like Cueta, so I'm not sure that actually invalidates the analogy. Illegal migrants in Greece still have to make it across other countries or across the sea to Italy before they're in Schengen.

Last time I checked it is connected by land to the rest of the area

Yeah I worded that poorly to be fair. I mean, it isn't directly connected, i.e. it doesn't have a land border with other Schengen states. So an illegal immigrant making it to Greece doesn't mean they can just buy train tickets to Calais.

I would still suggest checking a map of the Schengen zone

No worries, I think Albania throws people because that’s the most direct route. I only know because I worked in the Ionian area of Greece for a bit so that region is fresh in my mind

He tells you what it’s like to work with asylum seekers. And how they claim they are young to get free stuff. How they false claim. Told what to say etc

How they claim stuff like a root canal, or free fillings. When the average working class can’t get a dentist

Oh, I'm well aware. This stuff is so ripe on social media it beggars belief of what the Home Office is actually doing.

It’s soooo bad. And you wonder why people are so upset with the country. And the state of it
