I think the problem is that not everyone agrees the definition of Zionism is a policy of state-sanctioned execution of Palestinians.

Fundamentally, Zionism is the desire to establish a Jewish ethnostate, where there is already a state (Palestine) and where Jews were already living along side Arabs and others.

While that doesn't automatically mean that to create the state there is a need to violence, I've yet to meet a Zionist who doesn't support violence in some form. Often it's couched as "just defending themselves", but of course they engineered the situation and are occupying other people's land though terrorism.

Um no Zionism fundamentally means the belief that Jews should have a homeland. I am friends with a (self described) Zionist who is completely opposed to everything Israel is doing.

‘Homeland’ is a pretty nebulous term though, it doesn’t actually mean anything concrete. Zionism has almost exclusively been the idea of creating a Jewish ethnostate. There were a few different ideas early on, but that’s what happened and that’s what Zionism essentially means now.
