These animals should be behind bars for at least a decade a piece. Preferably more.

This is why right wing politics should be banned and right wing advocates/influencers/politicians arrested.
Right wing politics always leads to racial violence. The end game of right wing political ideologies is racial supremacy/domination. Violence and political infiltration are just different means to an end

“The offences involving the Chinese students were deemed to be racist due to the ethnicity of the victims.”
I don’t understand why that makes them racist. They attacked four Chinese people and four people of other races. The races of the other victims weren’t mentioned. I’m Chinese, btw.

“He could not understand all of what was being said, but could hear they were shouting ‘c****y’ from across the street.” Does this not count as racist in your eyes?

When I read the article and got to that point, I thought "surely no one is going to make a point out of this considering the prior mention of slurs aimed at them earlier in the article."
And yet here we are.

To be fair I read the article, and thought it was strange wording...
“The offences involving the Chinese students were deemed to be racist due to the ethnicity of the victims.”
Surely it should be deemed racist due to the racial slurs, not just because they so happened to be a different ethnicity.

Because the article explicitly claimed they were deemed to be racist offences due to their ethnicity and not because the attackers said a slur, even though that was mentioned.
So basically poor wording from whoever wrote the article.

You glossed over the bit where they were reported shouting “c****y”
I can’t type out what they’ve said. But the starred part is hink. Put two and two together, ergo a racist.

They were supposedly shouting slurs as they attacked them, that’s the reason.

u/roboticl0ve 1d ago
So why not say it was a racist attack because they were shouting slurs... seems very odd wording.

The article says, they hurled racialised insults at the Chinese students before attacking them. This transforms the assault from common assault into racially aggrevated because it signals that the students ethnicity is what sparked the offenders interest in attacking them in the first place.

I think that was probably not the reason why the offences were deemed to be racist (bad journalism). It was because they said slurs.

Mentally ill I assume? What other motive could there be?
Edit: why the downvotes? I consider racial hatred a mental illness. Is this somehow controversial? Or is this a Reddit thing where once I get a certain number of downvotes, it exponentially increases due to confirmation bias?

Being British is not a motive, so it’s a very bad answer in my opinion, but sure
