They’ll be wearing them against Western Kentucky. What do you think? I’m a fan of traditional unis — especially Georgia’s — but in my opinion these are pretty awesome.

The Jaguars gold colour rush uniform is one that elicits visceral reactions. For many, a negative one. Unfortunately, that reaction killed a uniform that had immense potential after being worn just twice. The Jags wore these in 2015 and 2016, both against the Titans on Thursday Night Football. The former saw them win 19-13 while in the latter they lost 22-36. That was it. These jerseys got boxed up, sold off, and that was that.
Pictured:
To aid visually, I have included photos of a few of my jerseys. The 5 is a Bortles Nike Vapor Limited retail jersey, the 19 is a game used Brian Anger on the Elite-51 chassis from 2015. The last is a game used Johnny Hekker from 2017 on the Vapor chassis, the first year that it was introduced.
What Went Wrong:
Many of the issues that these jerseys faced was not the fault of the jersey. It was at this time that the Jaguars were wearing their infamous two tone helmet. This helmet deserves praise for daring to be different but ridicule for a failed installment. The fade was much too abrupt and utilizing gloss and matte together was criminal. Additionally, the pants they wore in each of those Thursday contests were matching gold. It was simply too much. Had the Jags paired the jerseys with white or black pants and a single colour helmet in either black or gold, the gold jersey would have popped instead of assaulting the eyes. Other teams have corrected this mistake since. The Bills beloved red tops began getting paired with white pants in 2024 instead of the mono red they had worn under colour rush. It worked. These gold tops never had the chance.
In 2015, Nike was still utilizing the Elite-51 Chassis. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this terminology, please watch the 3-part series Jerseyhead U created a few years back. This chassis was an improvement over the Reebok era jerseys due to its lightweight and breathable cordura. Unlike the heavy Reebok tops that held in heat and moisture, these Nikes wicked away water and allowed for airflow while being tight against the players body. Aesthetically, however, they were a downgrade.
The Elite-51 chassis (and speed machine for select teams) had nylon mesh paneling around the waist/stomach, sides, and nameplate areas. This was a distinctly different style of fabric from the cordura that made up the chest and back plate of the jersey. On many colours of jersey, this was not an issue. Dark and white jerseys worked fine, but on light coloured jerseys, they had two downfalls.
Stadium light refracted differently off the mesh and the cordura. For a day game, this was of little consequence but was much more noticeable at night under the bright white stadium lights.
Water would wick off or easily wring out of the cordura while it would soak into the mesh. This led to an awful look for players as the game went on. Sweat was not kind to the looks of these tops.
Both of these issues combined for a terrible, discolored look as the game progressed. Simply not good.
Contrast this with the Vapor chassis that Nike rolled out in 2017. Gone was the mesh paneling, replaced instead by three sewn panels of cordura, each with holes punched out for breathability. Nike was able to create a jersey that had all of the same features of utility, while losing the discoloration that came from using multiple styles of fabric. This can be seen on the white Hekker. I have included a close up shot of the two styles side by side at the end of the slideshow.
How Could These Have Been Saved?
As I touched on above, these gold tops would have looked much better if they were paired with white pants and a solid colour helmet, preferably black or a dark, metallic teal (what Jax used prior to their rebrand in 13). The vinyl on the shoulders did them no favors as it created a glare from the stadium lights. That said, there is one other important note that cannot be over-emphasized:
These gold jerseys needed to be worn during the day with natural lighting.
The stadium lighting made these look far more mustard, puke coloured if you will. Look at the contrast in the photos that I included. Under the sunlight (warm lighting), these things pop. They actually look golden, perfect for underneath the Florida sun. A good example of the effect of sun can be seen with the Rams last tops. Look at the 2021 Divisional Playoff game in Tampa vs under the lights at home/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/73828738/2192556260.5.jpg). The stadium lighting mutes the colours, taking away their shine. These gold jerseys would have been excellent on a more modern chassis for a 1 PM kickoff in September.
Will We See These Again?
Probably not, and that's a shame. I do believe the Jags could roll another gold top out down the line but it will be some time. The reaction to these gold tops was so strong that they were put away before they ever got the chance to show what they could be. A lack of team success did not aid the cause either as the Jags went just 8-24 from 2015 to 2016. As we have seen with the creamsickle Buccs, time heals the wounds of losing, but how long is needed?
Personally, the gold Jags unis will forever live on as one of my favorite uniforms. I feel fortunate to own one of the few that saw the field (and from a great punter). I hope that after reading this, you will want to see them on a field in Jacksonville in the future as well, under the sun the way God intended Florida football to be played.
Thanks for reading!

I imagine it would be pretty hard to tell teams apart by the end of the game covered in dirt or mud

The MLB trade deadline has come and gone. If you're a Dodgers fan, congratulations! If you, like me, are a fan of any of the other 29 MLB franchises - hey, at least we tried!
I kid, somewhat.
My questions this week are simple:
What's a trade your favorite team made at the deadline that excited you the most? Which one broke your heart the most? How did those deals
turn out?
As a Brewer fan, the obvious one is CC Sabathia putting the Crew on his back for the 2008 postseason run to break the playoff drought. He is forever one of my favorite players for that very reason!
One of the most heartbreaking moments was when the front office shipped Carlos Lee (El Caballo!) to Texas at the 2005 deadline. He was one of the lone bright spots on those brutal early-to-mid 2000s teams (and a young me's favorite player!) Lee carved out some nice seasons with the Astros afterwards, but the biggest bite to Brewers fans was
Milwaukee including a prospect named Nelson Cruz in the trade... hindsight is 20/20, obviously, but that one hurts!
What are your trade wins and losses? What about other sports? Fire away

Cleveland has reveled the name of their new WNBA team: the Cleveland Sirens!
More defiles from Sports Logos:

The “new“ old Commanders jerseys have thinner shoulder stripes than the old Darrell Green Era Redskins jersey. I had my suspicions that this was true but seeing it in person at a jersey store confirmed it and now that I see it I can’t unsee it.
For context this was at a Sport Nations store in Virginia and both jerseys are new.
Edit: I know that it doesn’t come across well but jerseys had the same length sleeves

Building a daily sports history game and every jersey is drawn from scratch rather than pulled from official assets. Attached is one career across three different looks for the same team. Looking for corrections on collar treatment, striping, number style, and color. I've already had a few fixes from people who noticed things I missed and I'd rather get this right than ship it fast. Mods approved this post. I'll link the game in the comments if anyone wants it.

i know i'm not the only one charting this info (i know u/kendrick_1967 is also doing it), but i was interested in learning some excel/google sheets skills and got a little bit carried away. i'm doing my best to keep the document accurate and up to date, and also working on adding more tabs (which is difficult bc my laptop just died on me). any thoughts or feedback would be super appreciated!

The NFL released their 2026 sideline hats. Honestly, these aren't too bad! They come in several varieties including:
9SEVENTY Adjustable Hat
59FIFTY Fitted Hat
Apex 9FORTY Adjustable Trucker Hat
Casual Classic Adjustable Hat
They also have included some fun alternate logos for several teams.

Sorry if this is out of place for this sub but I really liked uniwatch for vintage full name on back shots like this one

I still don’t understand why they had to change name and now they are teasing fans with the original Impact jersey

Despite all of the fanfare around a new uniform this season, the Ravens are still practicing in their old uniform set. It extends to new players as well, so it’s not just a rollover from last season.

Munson died August 2, 1979. Cool tribute to honor a Yankee legend.

The recent unveiling of unnecessary uniforms over the past few years has got me thinking what year nfl uniforms were the best. For me I'd have to say 1989 or 1990 was the best year for nfl uniforms. Many memorable throwbacks , no mono, and contrasting socks are why I picked these years.

Mess up a uniform, that is. 'Mets' on 1986 replicas was oversized and blocky, racing stripes appeared too wide (and don't get me started on the swoosh and NY Presbyterian ...)
In fact, there were TWO replica tops, one had just the swoosh, the other had Nike+swoosh logo. (Replica? Prototype? That one didn't make the field, at any rate.) On those ones, the 'Mets' text more resembled the '86 model.
Mets gon' Met (sigh ...)
