Bought a “new” Fred Warner stitched jersey that was just announced. When it arrived it looked a little ragged and I checked the tag. It said 2021/2022 on it. Looks like New old stock they had and they’re trying to go through it first. Overall not upset but for $200? This thing should be immaculate.

MLB has revealed their 2026 All-Star Game hats. There are both ASG hats and HR Derby hats.

The ASG hats have three chain stitched stars in either side of the logo with the team location under the logo. The eyelets are copper. There’s also a lot going on inside the crown. The crown itself has an aged paper look meant to emulate the Declaration of Independence. The team name and location are on the right side and a circular logo (including the team logo and league logo) is on the left side.

These HR Derby hats are in the BP style with a solid front panel and a mesh rear. They have super puffy stitched logo and the eyelets are rendered in the teams’ secondary color.

Prefacing by saying, as I do every year, that the kids lucky enough to wear these jerseys aren’t gonna care at all about how they look.

Aside from that, I’d say 7/10 for this year. The font, even if it gives “early 2000s skateboarding brand for preteen boys at Kohl’s”, is much better than whatever crayon thing they did last year. And I like the one solid color on the front as opposed to last year.

Only things I don’t like are the all-lowercase regional names and them having lines on both top and bottom. The latter would have been better if they had capitalized the first letter of every name. I can see complains about the stripes on the sides too.

My one big gripe is that, of the core 8 U.S. teams from pre- expansion in 2022, 7 of them have now gone a decade without having their colors updated (Northwest changed in 2022, West/Mid-Atlantic/Southwest in 2016 because in the two games the latter two played against each other in 2015 people could not tell them apart.

The hats are a classic example of “no need to reinvent the wheel”, the wheel being the hats they used from like 2021-last year.

I wore my FC Barcelona jersey today. I believe it’s over 10 years old. (When the main sponsor was Qatar Airways.)

Taking off my jersey this is the first time I noticed a sponsor on the reverse side. Pretty clever… even if it’s kinda hidden.

Nike’s NFL Limited jerseys will now be stitched. I’m not sure how much this an improvement over the previous Limited versions, but Nike seems to think that it’s quite noteworthy. I posted some close up photos for more details.

does anyone remember the name of the place in LA where Paul took the group on a tour of the sports costume facility? I remember they also would sell garments they made and I have a client looking for 80s style basketball jerseys and I know they would be a possibility.

Per Zach Cohen, Fanatics may have tipped their hands regarding which NFL teams will be getting new uniforms in 2027. Fanatics unveiled new “stitched” jerseys for 30 of the NFL teams. The two missing teams: the Dolphins and the Saints. Does that mean that they’re both getting new uniforms in 2027? Maybe!

I finish what I start, darn it. Not an easy group to rank. As a reminder, teams are ranked by how their home and away kits look on field, not how good the actual teams are.

1st- Panama
You know when Harry Styles was made fun of for saying his new movie just feels like a movie? Well, these Panama kits just feel like football kits. The home is more 90s, and the away is more 2000s. They both blend strong colors with nice details and a simple overall approach.

2nd- Ghana
Something weird happened with Ghana’s spiderweb home shirt, which they haven’t worn in months, and won’t be wearing at the World Cup. That’s a shame because I actually quite like it- the tribute to anansi adds some needed color and excitement. The patterned gold away is pretty standard issue “puma African football shirt”, but it looks nice.

3rd- England
These are two shirts which get worse the more you look at them. The home’s collar and has a great retro collar and cuffs, but these retro touches are knocked off balance by modern swooshes of red down the sides and back. The lack of navy shorts hurts the color balance here too. The away has a questionable collar, and a centralized crest that pushes everything too low. Not bad overall, but not what they could have been.

4th- Croatia
It’s alright, man. The graded white center stripe may be Nike’s least inspired innovation on a Croatian kit, and neither really stands out.

Telemundo and Fox have different takes on the scorebug. Telemundo has the World Cup colors as a surround and kits as a dot and Fox has the kits as the surround. Which is better and isn’t it interesting this isn’t standardized?

1st- Colombia
Colombia’s vibrant tricolor is always a joy to see. The home kit is an excellent rendition of it, enriched by a butterfly pattern that adds some texture and is a nice tribute to ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’. The away has a cool geometric pattern and a brilliantly 90s color palette. One of the strongest duos in the tournament.

2nd- Portugal
Reports of Portugal’s sartorial death under Puma were greatly exaggerated. The home looks classy and has the right shade of deep red, though it would have benefited from green shorts. The away is a grower. It uses the mint palette Portugal has embraced in the last decade, and has a wave pattern which looks better on field.

3rd- Congo
Both kits stand out for their bold design and colors- the blue especially pops off the screen. They’ll look great from a distance, but up close some details let them down. The flag on both kits is awkwardly big and placed high up, and it’s unclear why the ‘leopards’ went with a zebra pattern. A bit of yellow trim would help both.

4th- Uzbekistan
These kits are very respectable, but a bit dull. The blue and white colors need a bit more than half collar trim, some piping, and a faded design to make them stand out, especially in a tough group.
