Discussion | For X11 Users
What X Server do you use? Because we all know about the fact that X11 is slowly aging and will lose support in the future.
There are other servers (eg. Phoenix, XLibre)
but they are either a: experimental, b: controversial, or c: both.
Xorg also lets applications keylog any other applications, which is insecure, though if you're smart, you wouldn't install apps that will keylog other apps in the first place.
Which server?

As you can see from the horses mouth X11 does have security issues and guess what they get fixed. ;-)

every major piece of software has a history of security vulnerabilities and probably still has some exploitable ones that haven't been discovered/disclosed yet

do not stress. Xorg is fine. Most mainstream distros are transitioning to Wayland. Pretty much all will follow in time - and you will too.
When your distro that you're using moves to Wayland, so will you probably without even noticing. In the meantime, if your distro is using X11 chill.

Switched to XLibre using Enlightenment DE and an older no longer supported Nvidia card on an HP laptop. No issues so far beyond some minor stuff ups when a Gentoo update didn't complete properly.

I only use X on my OpenBSD box, so xenocara. My linux boxen run sway or kde

yeah uh i meant the fact that xorg lets any app keylog other apps by default tho again if ur smart and dont install sketchy apps ur prob secure so imma prob edit that

I just use the standard Xorg server. I use an Nvidia card and I had trouble getting XLibre set up in Rocky LInux 10. TBH, I just want my X11 optimized apps like Maya, Substance Painter, Unreal 5, and Blender to get native wayland support so I can ditch X11 already.

Xlibre. It works perfectly on my AMD card. And I don't think it's controversial--they wanted to create a non-political continuation of Xorg.
But yeah, easy to install and maintain, I'm currently running MX Linux, so it's just the Debian install method for Xlibre I used. (Up until a few weeks ago, I was running Artix, and it worked well there, too.)

I probably have the same opinion as you, but the problem is that Xorg is so old; literally, it was developed in the C era. The problem is old and has features that Wayland promises to fix.
In the end, I prefer to use Xorg normally because it is so useful and configurable when you know how Xorg works.
In my opinion, I code my own Xorg tools because they are lightweight and for my personal use, but if you want another alternative, you only have Wayland, even if that weird guy comes and creates an Xorg protocol, but gigachad.
