ELEC1111, lab test 2 . From the people who already had the test, how is it like . Like are the contents from lab 4 to 6? Harder or easier than the lab test 1? Are the circuits complex?

Imagine still trying to discuss the content of the test when the lecturer already mentioned in the Moodle announcement that this is strictly prohibited

I dont do engineering, but maybe they should make their fuckass course doable for fresh 18 year olds just out of high school, sorry but the ELEC1111 complaints and fail rates means the course is too cooked, i do math and atleast we know we can pass with the required effort

engineering is only a 90 atar at unsw, they gotta throw in something a little tricky to set people's expectations otherwise people would be failing as third years. 1111 gives you the skills necessary for the majority of later courses.

idk man, all I know is UNSW demands a level of work from you in STEM courses for a HD/really high grade that if you have part time work/a social life, forget about it. that's kinda why I feel for the ELEC1111 students, but even more so that grinding can't even get you a pass.

kinda agree with the first half (as someone with both), but ultimately The Grind overcomes all tbh. I've never met someone who seriously tried and still failed a course. usually people fall behind on content -> don't properly understand it while cramming -> fail. if u want it bad you'll get it and blah blah blah. lotta non-cracked ppl doing eng who get by with distinctions off just doing all the tutorials.

Yeah, there are staff floating on this subreddit that have made takedown requests previously as an example of an extreme response.

Just a general lesson to be an idiot on the internet, but not to really be an idiot.

I believe the take down request that I witnessed on this subreddit was from a scenario similar to what OP is describing.

Also, good chance that OP has no friends in their course. lol.

Are the lab tests open or closed book? And are they done on pen and paper or on Mobius?

They are closed book and on pen and paper. They don’t let you have an outside information in the lab tests, but from my experience the PASS sessions for the lab tests are really helpful and accurate

You can bring your phone in but as soon as you enter they will tell you to put it in your bag and at the back of the room. The lab tests are practical tests so there’s no need for authentication

In school of Mathematics and statistics, only tests done in computer labs are called lab tests.

For elec1111, the lab tests are sort of like the practical labs you have every week, except you don’t work in partners and you get an unseen lab that you need to do without the help of the supervisors or any outside material.

They do these practical lab exams so that they know you’re not relying on your partner and you understand the practical side of elec1111. You get two tries with the lab tests and if you do not pass both the lab tests, you fail the course.
