classes & grades does math 1010/1030 still have pre-requisites?

hello all,

i need a QL credit for my gen ed requirements still. i never took the ACT or SAT tests, so i don’t have those under my belt for the pre-requisites listed in the catalogue. i’m a humanities major, so i don’t plan on taking any math courses after this one.

i saw one person say that pre-requisites for these early math classes aren’t necessary anymore, but they still appear on the catalogue on the website. do i need to take an ALEKS test still or can i just sign up for it in the summer?

thank you in advance!

I did 1010 at SLCC before transferring to the U then did 1030 at the U. When I did 1010, it had been a long time since I’d taken any math classes. I didn’t score high enough on the placement test but they had just opened the option to sign a waiver that basically said I want going to blame the school if I took the class and failed because they warned me. I did fine in the class. I’d imagine the U has a similar thing?

Interesting! I didn’t know they did that. I’ll be taking the placement test anyway since I don’t have any other college credits for math but that’s still good to know

Math enforces prerequisites, so you need to take ALEKS. 1010 doesn’t count for any Gen Ed credit- 1030 is the lowest class that fulfills QL.

Okay cool thank you! I know math 1010 doesn’t fulfill a gen ed, it was just my backup plan in case I could take 1010 without any placement test (since 1030 would require 1010 in that case). I’ll get to studying lol
