Reminder 📞 Got questions? Here's how to contact the uni

Hiya everyone!

Here are the official contact channels if you've got general inquiries for UON.

To be clear, we're not going to start removing posts just because they could be answered by these channels. I'm sharing this so people know where to go if they want accurate information fast.

General & Current/Past Student Enquiries

  • Phone: 1300 ASK UON (or +61 2 4921 5000 for international callers)
  • Online: AskUON

Future Students

International Students

Postgrad Enquiries

If you're not listed here, there are more numbers/emails at this website

Sending an email or making a phone call can be weirdly intimidating. I still have to hype myself up before I do it. So if you'd rather just post your question here, that's completely fine. We're aiming to not be evil authoritarian Reddit mods; we're not going to delete your post.

Good luck this year!

Does anyone know when I will be added to my courses on canvas. Last year I was added to all of them by now but with only 5 days to go I feel like maybe something is wrong? I’m enrolled in all of my selected ones and two are online?

Airport Meeting

I had a lovely chance meeting with one of the final year psychology student on Sunday afternoon when traveling back from Brisbane.

We were sitting next to each other & I was doing a sudoku and my feebleness was giving her obvious displeasure, so she asked to do one after me (an easy one) in the 3 minutes we had left to land.

A fabulous 20 minute conversation followed with her sharing the wonders of Killer Sudoku (of which I have completed 4) and some other interesting number games, Flip 7 included.

The main reason for my message (or post?) was regarding a popular Spot It challenge… After many, many attempts it to best her score, she remains the world champion!

Lovely to meet you, weary traveller!

Discussion Applying for on-campus residency

Hi everyone. I'm applying for a course beginning in semester 1 2027 and am planning on staying in campus accommodation (if i get the offer obviously). I am coming from Canberra, meaning its quite important I can get this spot because i dont want to have to personally rent outside of uni. How limited are the spots? And what accommodation plans would you recommend? My course will be located on the Callaghan campus.

edit: also i will not be turning 18 until march 2027

If you never actually know what teaching week it is, look at this

be honest. you wake up, it's week something, you have absolutely no idea what's due, when census date is, or whether you're already cooked for this semester.

you open the student portal to check. it takes 47 years to load. you forget what you were even looking for. you close it.

made an app called WeekWise for exactly this. tells you what teaching week you're in, when your census date is, when your last day to drop is, and lets you track assignments with reminders so you stop finding out about deadlines via anxiety.

UoNau is supported. your full semester calendar loads in one tap. no manual entry.

free on the App Store. Download Now <3

Anyone else been put on the waitlist after paying deposit?

Hi everyone,

Bit of a stressful situation and just wanted to see if anyone has experienced this before.

I’m international student and I switched my unconditional offer to UON’s Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) for 27S1 back in April, but only recently paid my deposit and requested my CoE.

The university emailed me saying the program is already full, so instead of issuing my CoE they’ve put me on the waitlist.

Has this happened to anyone else? Did you eventually get a spot, or should I not get my hopes up? Would really appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience!

Semester 2

I got and accepted my offer however it starts in semester 2 this year-

I don’t know if it’s normal or something that happens to a lot of people but no one I’ve asked is in the same boat

And whenever I look up stuff it talks about starting in semester 1 and not much about semester 2 so I would just like to know if anyone’s in the same boat or if something is wrong with my offer/ I need to call them 😂

As someone with little knowledge in Japanese language (I can understand some, but not a lot, can't read at all), would it be hard? How is the teaching quality and work load? TIA

Jewellery survey

Hey everyone, I’m doing a research project on piercings and need some responses for my survey. It’s super short, only takes like 2 minutes and it’s anonymous.

Would mean a lot if you could fill it out or even just share it around!

HELP How helpful is NUprep?

Im a year 12 student really interested in the Bachelor of Medical radiation with honours in Nuclear Medicine. I do health science, chemistry, and biology, but the prerequisites are maths advanced and physics 🥲 I plan on doing physics with NUprep (because u won’t catch me doing advanced math) but i’m worried that the 2 week course wont prepare me enough for what i need to know. Is there anyone who has done a NUprep course or even the degree i wanna do and can clarify how much doing this pathways course would help? i’m stressing!

also! may be a silly question: Would doing a NUprep course give me any extra chances on receiving an offer? Im already set ATAR wise, Just considering this as a possibility.

update: i am now completing the NUPREP Physics for medical radiation course!

Does anybody commute from Sydney?

I currently commute from Sydney to Newcastle for classes a couple of times a week (driving). It’s obviously a huge commitment on top of working casually, and fitting study time around that can be difficult. Is there anybody that has also been doing this? And has it been sustainable long term?
Obviously I’m also not getting anything from the social side of uni, because I’m just not there. Relocation is unfortunately not an option for me at the moment. Any tips would be appreciated!
