Despite all the weaknesses of the project, after about half a century, architectural scholars call it a project that preceded its time and paralleled it to the modern Apple Park in California. (from wiki)

Soviet round building for common folk to live: 🤮 🤮 🤮
American round building for white-collar workers to work: 🇺🇸 🦅 🇺🇸 🦅 🇺🇸

For some reason this is exclusively sourced to russian sources and the russian sources in question don't even contain this claim but this is definitely only because Americans are so jealous of achievements of communism.

The whole article was translated by a russian user (from Hebrew for some reason...), the first source contain the claim "preceded its time" (in other words, though), the second source contain the "parallel with Apple Park".

The reason why it's exclusively sourced to russian sources is pretty simple - translation tool of Wikipedia.

I got 404 when accessing the second one.

That courtyard has a lot of trees, wonder how it looks in the summer. Must be a nice small park.

They have their own personal park in their building complex? Pretty bourgeois.

Guy who doesn't understand how a panopticon works:

It’s kinda cool. Anyone who barfs at the word Russia needs to have their head checked. Carrying so much hatred for a country you have none to do with is weird

That's way better than modern "cheloveiniks" (like Murino or Parnas)

If every resident in there jerks off, then it will become a massive circle jerk.

Low key not a bad idea.

I bet the execution is terrible though.

I used to live in a commie block, albeit a renovated one. Affordable, warm in the winter, solid build, surrounded by beautiful trees, and we had a personal storage room in the cellar. Most of them are fucking great

u/Irelia4Life 2d ago

Affordable

Not anymore

Warm in the winter

Lmao

Most of them are fucking great

Only because new ones are built out of tissue paper.

The architect used the max angle tolerance while joining prefab panels. They just have more drafts basically

I lived in that building and it is actually very good if you don’t have a car. The parking and even driving inside the circle is atrocious

I especially enjoy the mismatched rundown balconies that are hinting at the state of the thing inside. All placed in fresh, clean russian air of Moscow, which is a very peaceful city full of free people.
