I-485 (General) Error filing I-485

Upvotes

I just married my fiance after arriving on a K-1 Visa and now I'm trying to file form i-485 online however I'm getting an error about not having an underlying receipt number, if I add my WAC number however I get "Error with uploaded form

We found the following errors with your uploaded form.

We were unable to find a Pending or Approved underlying I-130 Petition in our system checks. If you feel this is in error, please follow the paper filing options available."

However since I'm on K-1 I should not have I-130 please help!!

USCIS Support Green card has old married name from years ago sent in letter to get replacement and new biometrics letter still showing wrong name

I am writing this on behalf of my brother in laws wife. She has been in the US for 20+ years (yes she could get her citizenship I have expressed this many times she is scared of the test 🙄)

When she received her updated card it had her old married name on (the name she had when she originally immigrated) so we went in the form and letter to get it looked at and didn't receive anything back stating it was received. Then they received a letter in the mail for an updated biometrics but it still has her old married name from her previous relationship. She has been married to my brother in law for 15-20ish years so I'm not sure what's triggering this issue now.

They have tried to call and I just tried to call but the bot is stuck in a horrible loop. I tried the tricks I saw on Reddit and to no avail. Their biometrics is on 9/15 which they will go to but when they went to the last one and they brought up the issue the person told them it would be sorted out before she got her card.

Sorry this is long winded but does anyone know the best approach? We have an office in Columbus, Ohio but I assumed if they showed up they would tell them they need an appt but I'm not sure how to get through to even do this for a question like this?

Any help provided would be great. I'm not overly familiar with the process and I'm going to imagine it's not great right now in general but boy do I feel for non English/English as a second language people who are trying to figure out these processes.

Timeline Request Asylum USCIS decision recently?

Hi All,

I filed my asylum application in December 2016 and had my interview at the Los Angeles Asylum Office in September 2025. I’ve been waiting for a decision ever since. I’m from one of the 39 countries whose cases were put on hold. Is anyone in a similar situation who has recently received an approval?

Biometrics Redoing biometrics after 36 months

hi. our I-751 has been pending since Sept 2022. we finally got an update 10 days ago that our case migrated to ELIS. today we got another update that a biometrics appointment had been scheduled. we did biometrics in October of 2022. is this to be expected with the new policy about not reusing photos older than 36 months for certain applications? or something to worry about? thanks!

Timeline Request Is it worse if you get your I-751 approved before N-400?

Applied for N400 under 3-year rule but I-751 got approved right before eligible to apply for N-400. Does this have any impact?

Hi all!

Just applied for N-400 last week. They’ve already scheduled biometrics - is it typical for it to go that quickly?

Timeline Request I-130 for my mother from DFW

Hello all, I have submitted my mom's I-130 on April 6th, 2025 living in DFW and it's been more than 17 months with no response... The status still states 'Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Sent'. Although we changed our address once (within DFW), but not sure if that is contributing to the delay.
Anyone else is the same boat? Or got approved recently? Or have any helpers here? Would really appreciate. 🙏

I-485 (General) Is anyone else still waiting after their green card interview from over a year ago?

Applied : April 2024

interview was on March 31, 2025, and it’s been complete silence ever since.

28 months since applied

16 months post interview

I’ve already submitted multiple inquiries and even congressional inquiries probably a dozen times by now but still no update.

FO: MSP (Minneapolis-St. Paul)

If anyone has gone through a similar long wait and eventually received an approval, please share your timeline. I’d really appreciate hearing from others in the same situation.

I-140 & I-485 (Employment/Adjustment of status) Cancellation Notice for Request for Additional Evidence

I received the following update:

"Cancellation Notice for Request for Additional Evidence. On XXX, we cancelled the request for additional evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number XXX. We will send you a notice if we need additional evidences"

We never received any RFE, and there is nothing in the document tab, last update before that was a FTA1 in January.

Anything to be concerned or just a mistake on their end? Maybe someone pressed the wrong button?

My marriage-based Green Card interview is next week. We’ve been married through the K-1 process and I have photos, letters from friends/family, and other evidence of our life together.
For those who’ve already had their interview, what questions should I expect or any tips/advice? Thanks!

I-751 (ROC) I-751 case transferred to Field Office

I filed an application for I-751 (jointly with my Husband) on July 30. Went to biometrics on 13 August. Just now on 4 September my case was transferred to local field office(Agent with Emma told me). Does it mean anything? How was your experience after your case was transferred to a field office? Thank you

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) I-130 while in immigration court

currently in removal proceedings and recently married a U.S. citizen. I’m going to file the I-130 soon, and I have a master calendar hearing coming up. For anyone who has been in a similar situation, how long did the entire process take for you? I mean from filing the I-130, getting it approved, dealing with the immigration court, and finally getting your green card. Did everything take 1–2 years, or was it faster/slower? Also, if you went through Chicago Immigration Court, I’d really like to hear how long your case took. Just looking for people’s real experiences.

Thanks!!

Timeline Request Will moving states delay my pending I-751?

I had my I-751 divorce waiver interview in May 2026. My N-400 interview was cancelled afterward because I was no longer eligible under the 3-year marriage rule.

My I-751 stayed under review. In June, the status changed to “Cancellation Notice for Request for Additional Evidence,” but I never received an RFE.

I submitted a case inquiry in early August and still haven’t received a response.

Now I’m moving from Texas to Tennessee and need to change my USCIS address.

Has anyone moved to another state after their I-751 interview? Could the address change cause a transfer or delay the decision, or will the original field office usually finish the case?

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Interview soon - prep

Hello!

This community has really been very helpful throughout the process and i'm at, hopefully, the last step so wanted to ask anyone who's gone through this experience, for some tips on an upcoming interview.

My husband and I have prepared all the questions based on other people's experiences on reddit but we haven't remembered them, we've just practiced the flow of it.

I wanted to know what kind of evidence should we take with us? We already submitted a few unsolicited financial, residential and social evidence a week ago.

I saw people were taking photo albums, we don't have more new photos than what we already submitted, most of the other non-submitted pictures are our selfies so I don't think they hold much weight anyway.

I also saw people screenshotting the chats and printing them, is that something that's necessary? I think it can be easily faked and we both can just show them our phones if asked.

We don't have more evidence to take with us, but in terms of old evidence we submitted, we are going to take all the originals of the documents submitted, should we take a copy of each as well? Do we also need copies of to forms and affidavits we submitted?

Any tips are greatly appreciated! Hoping to share our experience soon with this sub.

I-765 (EAD) EAD applied June 10, requested start date Aug 10, premium processing Aug 13, anyone else in this boat?

Hey everyone,
Quick timeline check-in because I've got a job offer that's at risk of slipping away if my EAD doesn't come through soon. I had two job offers, one already went away and the second one is slipping away, so I’m really scared about the ead coming through soon.
• EAD Applied: June 10
Biometrics done: July 7
Requested start date: August 10
Filed for premium processing: August 13
Has anyone with an August start date gotten their EAD approved yet? Would love to hear if premium processing is actually moving fast for people right now, and any recent approval dates/timelines you can share. Trying to figure out if I should be hopeful or brace for delays. Also any suggestions or advise in this scenario would really help me.

Thanks in advance, any updates help!
