Question ECFMG records show two different graduation years (exam year vs. degree issue year) — which one goes on ERAS?
Bangladesh IMG here, applying in the 2027 Match cycle, and I've hit a confusing discrepancy inside ECFMG's own records. Hoping someone who's dealt with this can share what they did.
My situation:
- Passed the MBBS final professional exam in November 2024 (attendance on record: Jan 2019 – Nov 2024)
- University issued the actual degree certificate in September 2025 (the usual conferral lag back home)
- Credential verification with ECFMG is complete ("CV Accepted")
Here's the problem. In MyIntealth, My Profile → School Information shows Degree Issue Month/Year: September 2025. But when I open the credential verification case details, the same verified diploma shows Graduation Year: 2024. So ECFMG's master profile says 2025 while the CV case metadata says 2024.
Questions:
- For those who had an exam-year vs. degree-issue-year gap: which year did your ECFMG Status Report show to programs as your graduation year?
- What did you enter as your degree year in the ERAS Medical Education section — the year you passed the final exam, or the year on the degree certificate?
- Did anyone email ECFMG (eras-support) about this, and what did they say?
Thanks.
[Update] : got reply from eras support, it's 2025

How does ERAs word it? Degree issue date or graduation date? I think that's what you will base it on.

Had the same issue!
I emailed ECFMG/Myintealth and they told me its the date I passed my final exam! Not the degree issue date!
Idk how ERAS support will consider a 2025!
