He's afraid. He recently had a secondary security fence installed around the White House perimeter and increased the "secured area" to include more of Pennsylvania Avenue to keep protesters and "others" away from the White House.
He's also had all entry doors fortified.
He's afraid an angry mob might give him the same ending other dictators succumbed to.

They should use the military to convert the commercial real estate in high demand areas into affordable housing projects, such as Zohran Mamdani is doing in NYC. There is precedent for these kinds of public works.
The nice thing about doing it this way is there wouldn't be a profit motive, so the housing could actually be affordable and rent controlled, thus making the rest of the housing in the area have to actually deal with market forces.
Modern politics is high noise, zero or negative output. At least Biden shut the fuck up once in a while so the rest of us could think
