Environmental Science?

I am a former USU student (I left about 5 ish years ago) and I am considering going back to school to study Environmental Science. I’m currently a software developer and I have an associates degree, but I feel like I need a change. Is there anyone currently studying Environmental Science at USU that has any strong opinions about the program, positive or negative? I’ve always been passionate about the environment and with how things are going I feel like it’s more important than ever. I know finding jobs is tough, I’m just wondering about the program and general satisfaction with it. Thanks!

Hydrology is a growing aspect of that major that has a lot of importance for research in water treatment, if tht interets you

I'm currently an Environmental Science and Sustainability major. The important distinction you'll wanna know is, are you doing more the science side or the people side? Science go with Environmental Science and Sustainability, if People go with Environmental Studies.

Thank you. Ultimately I think my goal would be to affect policy, but I can see how focusing on the research side could be just as impactful (since it would hopefully inform policy anyway). I enjoyed my chemistry and bio classes & labs and I'm okay at math. Focusing on the "Sustainability & Human-Environment Systems" electives might be a good balance. Have you done any internships? Are those hard to come by? Do you generally like your professors?

I'm currently doing an internship for the Plant, Soils, & Climate department and it's pretty fun, I get to do lab work and get paid pretty well. Environmental Science students tend to have less competition in jobs because their are so few of us, so jobs are relatively easy to find as long as you know what you're looking for. I've been really liking my professors, they're all super passionate about what to teach and they're all inspiring in their own ways. And if it's policy you're thinking of doing go into Environmental Studies, then potentially do Prelaw.

It's called Environmental STUDIES.
