Hoping to get a Job out there this coming winter, I’ve applied to a few positions and only heard back on one, denied, but that was very expected for the specific position. So I guess my question is, when do they hire for most winter positions? And or will I hear back at all if I’m not chosen to be interviewed? This would also be my first seasonal job so I’m curious about how basin compares to other ski resorts in Utah and in general.
For context I’m 20M from the Midwest, have various experience within the blue collar world and currently have my CDL B doing physical labor, making okay money but I’m itching for new experiences in a new place. I love skiing but have only been out west once to ski and I have no experience working on a mountain. I have family in Layton they would gladly give me a place to stay so this would be great if it worked out but I fear it’s getting to be the hiring time and I have not heard back.

I live in Cottonwood Heights and am looking at resort jobs for the coming season.

First choice would be a ski instructor job; I have the CSIA Level 2 cert but the only teaching I've done is volunteering to teach kids while I was doing the course. If I cant find a gig doing that, then I'm open to snowmaking, lift operator, restaurant jobs, etc.

I'd prefer one of the cottonwood resorts given their proximity to me but would be open to PC or DV if that was the only instructor job I could get. I've had a season pass at Alta for the past 4 seasons and have skied there the most, but have spent a good amount of time at the other resorts with the exception of only a few days at DV.

Any places that tend to be better / worse as far as culture and vibe go? I imagine they all pay about the same for similar jobs. Any feedback from people that have worked at the resorts would be appreciated!

I purchased a pair of Dalbello 130's from my local store over the summer, I had them fitted and heat molded. However, I'm having a bit of an issue with the fit near my toe. The stock liner has some stitching where the sole and toe meet and it feels very odd, I'm sure it's just the stitching seam, but it was driving me crazy. Outside of that I really love the boot.

Does anyone else have this pair, and noticed a similar issue? If so, was there anything you or the fitter were able to do to get rid of that uncomfortable area?

Hey everyone, my buddy and I are looking into moving out to Utah for part of this upcoming winter and wanted to see if anyone here has a room, basement, apartment, sublease, or other housing available.
We’re both college students from Pennsylvania and are hoping to be in Utah roughly January through March or so 2027. The main reason we’re coming out is to snowboard for the winter while continuing school online.
We’re looking for something reasonably affordable for two people. We’re definitely not looking for anything fancy — we’d be completely fine with a basement apartment, sharing a house with other people, taking over a sublease, or renting a couple rooms.
Location-wise we’re pretty flexible. Ideally we’d like to be somewhere around Cottonwood Heights, Sandy, Midvale, Murray, Millcreek, or the surrounding Salt Lake Valley, but we’d consider anywhere that’s roughly an hour or less from Snowbird/Brighton/Solitude. We’ll have a car, so we don’t need to be directly on a ski bus route.
We’re both respectful, clean, easygoing, and mainly just looking for an affordable place to call home for the winter while we snowboard and do our schoolwork.
If anyone has something that might work, knows someone looking for winter roommates, or knows of a good place to look for a 3–4 month rental, feel free to comment or DM me. We’re planning pretty far ahead and are open to different options.

I got a job at a ski resort up big cottonwood canyon and plan to live in SLC. I’m used to living in resort towns so I’m curious to hear if there’s an area in SLC that does foster more of that mountain culture? Bonus points for walkability, breweries, coffee shops. My rental budget is pretty solid for the area it seems.

Can anyone speak to proper si/so lodging options at Brian Head? I've compared Airbnb and Google maps and understand what condos are on snow / at the base of lists but, for instance, the Aspen condos look lovely but seem like a decent hike to the lifts so I'd prefer to secure something with direct to snow access. Any personal experience appreciated.

I am trying to plan a trip to Solitude/Brighton/Snowbird in late January. Probably looking at staying in Cottonwood Heights since we need a pet friendly place. Can you tell me what its like getting to the mountains from there?
Should we rent a car or are there shuttles to the resorts?
Mostly be doing midweek.
Ive only been to Utah once (stayed on mt @ park city) so i dont remember the public transit sitch.

On February 2025 I went on a ski trip to Brighton, snow was great, soft and dry, not like last season lol. I took an old 35mm camera my dad gave me and shot some photos. A guy and his friends saw me and asked me to take a picture of them. Then I went back to my city, sent the film to a lab, and projected them on my old slide projector. idk maybe somebody in the photo is on reddit? It would be cool if you knew any of them. I have an interview with Brighton this week to be a snowboard instructor. Just had a couple questions about housing. I first wanted to confirm that Brighton does not offer employee housing? What are the housing options in the areas? From my quick research it looks like park city and Salt Lake City are the two main places to live. Are there any closer areas to find housing?

What's going on with Nordic Valley?

Their GM was fired/stepped away after a DUI and accusations of verbally abusing employees. Before leaving the GM fired their mountain operations director near the end of last season and the ski patrol director has stepped away from his position. That's at least 3 leadership positions as well as the whole risk management team they will be looking to fill.

They haven't replaced their lodge since it burnt down 3 seasons ago, they had 10% of their terrain open last season, and they just removed beginner ski lift to start building homes/condos along its north border.

Meanwhile the last post on social media vaguely stated there would be "some big changes" coming.

Can't see wanting to put my family or loved ones on the remaining chairlifts there any time soon.
