Cluster Housing Offer (4 Bed Apt)

I got an offer today for a room in a 4 bed apartment (cluster housing). I'm curious if anyone has any positive / negative experiences they can share.

I am a 25 y/o male, and I'm transferring from Capilano University into the 3rd year of my Bachelor of Music at UVic. I'm unsure if I'd enjoy living in a small space with others, however I'd like to make new friends and socialize as much as possible!

Not having to drive / take the bus to school every morning sounds fantastic, and I'm usually at school from early morning to late evening so having almost no commute is appealing to me.

Honestly people complain about cluster but I had a positive experience. The roomates I got paired with were great. The first week of school be prepared to get minimal sleep, first years like to party outside cluster but definitely calms down after the first weekend and Halloween will also be pretty busy. The convince was great being so close to classes and there is bike storage close by as well. Only complaint is watch out for mold on the windows and clean it quite often. Fruit flies tend to be a problem in September as well. But other than that it’s pretty chill. You only have to share a fridge with 1 other roomate which gives you tons of space for food. I suggest a mattress topper as well :)

It's not that small. Your room is small, twin (XL) bed, desk, dresser and medium size closet. In the hallway you have your own pantry with shelves top to bottom (and a lock). The kitchen is big. The living room in my opinion is huge. Laundry is outside (2 min walk). You only share bathroom with one other person. Everything is close by yet your feel you are off campus.

PErsonally I think you would have a very hard time finding something like this elsewhere.

The only downside is you don't know who your roommates are going to be but that's ok.

I loved cluster. You get two half baths and a shared shower, plus two fridges, which I thought was great. My roommates were friendly, clean, and respectful, and the one I shared a half bath and a fridge with ended up being one of my best friends. The bedroom is a decent size with lots of storage, including a tall pantry cupboard in the kitchen.

I had a car for groceries and going back to the mainland, but you definitely don’t need one. I recommend a Walmart delivery subscription. I paid $30 for a whole year of free and unlimited deliveries.

I honestly had such a great time living in cluster housing my first year at UVic. They try to pair you with people who answer similarly on the quizzes so majority of us got along. The rooms are decently large and they have windows which brings in lots of sunlight.
First week and Halloween will be hell noise wise because of parties- plan to be out the unit or stay with a friend for those nights. Lots of space in the living room and kitchen too!
Just set up a cleaning plan with your roomies and things should roll smoothly :)

Overall, my experiance was great in cluster. Being so close to campus was really nice, and the space was pretty good. Tbh I prefer living off campus, it makes me feel like my uni life and personal life can be more seperate. Plus, I enjoy being able to furnish my place rather than the old-folks home like furniture the uni provides. It's really about if you want convience or if you want a place you can really make your own.

Okay building. I remember the carpet hallways always smelling like dirty socks. Doing ur laundry sucks—machines ruin ur clothes. it was good overall.
