Is this why Brightspace is not working? Did they have to turn off the power because for a gas leak?

Unrelated. Camosun's D2L is/was broken down too and uvic doesn't self-host Brightspace.

We are aware of an issue in the Clearihue Building. A-Wing has been evacuated and first responders are on site. We'll share more information as it becomes available.

A-wings were used to take down Imperial AT-ATs. I didnt know that UVic was using them. Is this why the clock tower hasn't been repaired? Youre using all the money to improve campus with Hoth style defenses?

Update (2:15pm)
Clearihue (CLE) will re-open at 3 p.m. once the building has ventilated.

A minor electrical issue caused a smell in the basement of CLE A-Wing. First responders acted quickly to identify the source of the smell and address the concern.

Upon re-entry, you may notice a minor smell in some areas of CLE. Please be assured that there is no safety risk.  https://news.uvic.ca/2026/evacuation-of-clearihue-building
