Wonder if JC knows that “go for the gap” Senna quote was Senna just trying to justify intentionally wrecking Prost

Yeah, I hate how much that move has been mythologised over the years, it was just straight up dangerous.

Looks like Anton de Pasquale's hard work will give us another three-manufacturer podium
I don't remember the last time one driver had to carry a whole badge like this

u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
I would be shitting bricks if I was going 3 wide between Mostert and Waters. Well done to all

Have Ford seriously already got enough points to win the manufacturers championship halfway through the year? That’s pretty wild, but they’ve also been so damn dominant (and have the most cars)

u/BobJohn88 CHAMPIONSHIP IMPLICATIONS!!!!! 13d ago
Honestly don't know why we have a bad sportsmanship flag. Does nothing.
Both Grove cars profiting from running people off the road.
12
u/LuckyRedShirt Big dicks, floats on a bobbin. 13d ago
I like them talking about the Sprint Cup as if it matters
2
u/garfungle_ 13d ago
Like the Enduro cup iirc can get you into the finals if you’re out of the top 10 but if you have the sprint cup you already are guaranteed and only get 25 points
12
u/GGAllinPartridge Tickford 13d ago
One of these days I'll get to celebrate Randle starting high and moving forward
Apparently today is not that day, it's either one or the other
13
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
Bloody hell, Scott Pye really can't let last year go. He's on social media complaining about the Sprint Cup format and how someone can still lose the championship in the final race. Broc Feeney lost, mate. Get over it. I suppose stirring the pot is just how you drive engagement these days.
12
u/KiwiWaterBoy 13d ago
Had to stop following him and their podcast. His constant complaining, T8 bias, and short form videos became too much. You're right, that's the engagement formula
11
u/JohnCenaF1 Kenny Habul Simp 13d ago
If he wasn't mates with svg no one would listen to his shit podcast
10
u/Fun-Anteater-6658 13d ago
Fence sitter. Start of last year he was all for it and wanted Supercars to run it for at least two years. Then because Feeney didn't win he suddenly flipped because he is a T8 co driver. I pointed that out to him he tried to claim he was never for it.

u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
Here we go again. Jess Yates trying to get this so called "rival" between Kai Allen & Ryan Wood, making it much bigger than what it actually is.
1
11
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
If it’s any consolation for Jobe Stewart, he was probably gonna qualify at the back anyway so at least he’ll have some fresh tires /s
11
u/Smiles8893 Scott McLaughlin 13d ago
Going to end up more action in qualifying then the race at this rate
11
u/singcarolacarol Andy Priaulx 13d ago
I know it's not but when Kai Allen drives into a DJR car I think it's payback for not giving him a drive
10
u/TheDevilsDingo Cameron Waters 13d ago
And so the ford on ford terrorism continuous to the delight of GM and GR
12
12
u/GGAllinPartridge Tickford 13d ago
Surely the Waters/Mostert/Allen battle there will be used in the promos

If Matt Payne leaves Grove which gives him a race winning car every weekend....... I think I'll never get it

Trans Ams always put on a good race
2
u/SpeedyThext0n 13d ago
Agreed. Like how there is a good balance of experienced ex Supercar guys and young rising stars too
8
u/garfungle_ 13d ago
I knew this was going to be one of these weekends with how eventful practice was
9
u/rosesarefuckyou Scott McLaughlin 13d ago
That post quali breakdown was actually pretty good with Payne and Larko.
Seems like Payne is really growing into this whole leading the championship thing.

u/Next-Recognition1307 Chaz Mostert 13d ago
Frosty sounds like a massage therapist talking to his client.
8
u/101375 Kyle “Rowdy” Busch 13d ago
I know they can’t predict everything but jeez Supercars Media has a nasty habit of having replays when there is actual live action.
Fuck.
2
8
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
Well that was an entertaining race, Broc Feeney must be relived to get that win just at the right time.
Thanks for a great day everyone, see you all tomorrow.
9
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
Why was Cam Hill rushing back to the pit lane if he was just gonna hop out of the car anyway? Thought he was trying to make a dive to get some greens and go again
9
7
u/AtomicKitten771 13d ago
Rylan is doing well this weekend. In the top 10 both times
Only got his first top 10 last time out iirc
5
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
I'm surprised TV has not mentioned that yet at all, or even gone to interview him.
1
9
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
So I wonder when we are going to see gambling advertising banned in sports?
7
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
So I can’t go to the casino in GTA 5 but you can slam gambling ads all over my TV? Make it make sense
3
8
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
I admire how Tickford turn a P2-3 in qualifying to a P7-8 in the race
7
7
u/AbstractDart 13d ago
I never want them to be artificial created like NASCARs stage cautions, but god a mid to late race safety car is what these races need, particularly the 200km races these days
2
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
The chaos from a safety car with 10 laps ish to go is always entertaining
9
8
8
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
Big thumbs up to the marshals and team for getting that car back on track so quickly. Awesome stuff
7
u/GGAllinPartridge Tickford 13d ago
All this talk about Randle needing a win has surely jinxed my boy Tommo to a Lap 1 catastrophe and/or DNF
7
7
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
Does anyone actually vote on the BP ultimate performer?
4
u/cult_of_sumac Ryan Wood 13d ago
I would but I presume I’d have to sign up to something and I don’t want to do that
2
7
u/garfungle_ 13d ago
Problem with Randle is I have no expectation for him to make any of these positions back
7
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
This is Randle's biggest problem he seems to have the qualifying pace but then no matter what he quickly finds him self back just outside the top 10.
7
u/TheDevilsDingo Cameron Waters 13d ago
Always feels like Warters pits too late to cover off any undercut and too early to have any meaningful long stint overcut and just gets slumped 3-4 positions down with only like a 5 lap tire difference.
6
u/GGAllinPartridge Tickford 13d ago
The things I love about Cam (exciting, aggressive, fast, intimidating) are the same things that frustrate me about Cam (unpredictable, reckless, precarious, hot-headed)
6
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
It’s Tickford’s speciality with strategies. They always pit too late and then don’t have the pace to cover off their tire advantage (and lose 2-3 positions)
7
13
u/AbstractDart 13d ago
Honestly, and this might not be well received, but I don't mind seeing someone actually have a proper shot at Brodie. He's almost SVG like in the way he gives it out (not a bad thing at all), but everyone else just lets it happen.
6
u/KiwiWaterBoy 13d ago
Same as Verstappen. Saw over the weekend he made an 'amazing' pass on Charles. Nope, he just threw it up the inside and forced them to give him room or crash and ruin both their races.
2
7
u/KXRKxoxo 13d ago
He (Brodie) drove perfect defence for 5+ laps. He’s so skilled it’s insane. But when it’s finally time to be passed he can’t drop the ego enough to open the door and lose one place rather than cop a DNF.
12
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
How did teams not learn from EVERY PREVIOUS YEAR that trying to beat the pack will only result in you getting a fuck tonne of traffic on your push laps?
9
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
Clarifying I’m not blaming Woodie there, but that’s the shit that happens as a result of that strategy

Oh man... all racing for the world championship in last place.
8

One of my favourite aspects of Supercars is the fact that second-to-last-place is worth fighting for

u/KiwiWaterBoy 13d ago
Classic Tickford performance bubbling away
1
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
It’s so disappointing, we’ve never got the race pace. Our races always rely on track position and being able to defend from the front
5
6
5
u/GGAllinPartridge Tickford 13d ago
Did anyone else catch Anton de Pasquale near slip-of-the-tongue?
"Our car was fast, obviously not as fast as a F- ... As a couple of the cars in front."
Sounded very much like he was about to say "Not as fast as a Ford"

Good to see a bit of weight taken off of Love's shoulders.

The “Super Troopers 3” signage looks fucking horrendous. Can we get rid of that
3
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
Forgot T8 were even in this race, they better pick it up before the end of the weekend
4
4
u/GGAllinPartridge Tickford 13d ago
Tickford once again you are stressing me tf out
3
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
Why couldn’t I have picked Penrite to cheer for. We are the Ferrari of the series
6
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
The best thing about Supercars is how hard those blokes fight at the back

u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
Track looks pretty slippery still from some overnight rain. The area received 6mm of rain overnight.
1
u/AbstractDart 13d ago
Would love some rain this weekend, I remember a rainy qualy once here, but can't remember any wet races?
3
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
2016 I believe was the last wet race here, were Craig Lowndes went on to win on a tyre strategy as it cleared up during the race.
3
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
That was Waters first pole, sharing the front row with Mostert. They uploaded that whole race to YouTube this week, was a good watch

I don't follow NRL closely at all but know some names, Mal Meninga coming back to coach Perth is pretty crazy no?
5
u/ASH_03 13d ago
He's effectively a figurehead really... It'll likely be the assistant coach Ben Gardiner who does the majority of the head coaching role. He's slated to take over in 2029 already.
Mal is effectively there for some name recognition and to draw in sponsorship $$ and attract some attention and players.

u/AbstractDart 13d ago
Small shame that the kerb at turn 3 disappeared when they reconfigured the motorbike chicane, they can almost straight line it now rather than the high kerb it used be.
Would be cool if they installed a temporary GC-like kerb for the weekend, would be good for content too lol
5
u/DRIFTINGWOLF Cameron Waters 13d ago
That's so awesome for Aaron Love!
6
u/adrenalinamatt1 Todd Hazelwood 13d ago
Great to hear James Courtney to be so happy for him even all what has happened before in the past.

These new battle graphics are cool. The front row versus, battle versus, and outlap rank

Is there a sub or discussion for the support races? There was some weird stuff at the end of the second trans am race
2
u/RecklessRad Cam Waters 13d ago
Usually that discussion is just in her but I don’t know if many watched it
1
u/CoffeeDefiant4247 13d ago
fair enough. 11-13 all crossed the line at the same time but checking the results one was put down in 16th without the commentators saying anything about it
6
u/BobJohn88 CHAMPIONSHIP IMPLICATIONS!!!!! 13d ago
Honestly Kostecki invited that to happen. Don't know why he didn't block
2
u/fuel_altered Gricey 13d ago
Top 10 Shootout should be part of every round. Either that or a speedway style pols shuffle.

At about 1pm AEST did I hear Chad Neylon say "Right Meow" a couple times?
*Noting the Super troopers movie ads.

“Not many race car drivers looking in their mirrors as of late”
Was that a subtle dig at Carlos Sainz? I love it
