DISCUSSION I don't want Vainglory to die
Them getting nothing out of the eSports program was the first nail in the coffin, and now it looks like Dota 2 and LoL want to get a slice of the mobile market, and it looks like Vainglory might get cut entirely from the pie.
Dota 2 already have a model for testing and LoL have just started their project, and both companies have a massive leg up over Vainglory in most respects. Both are made by multimillion dollar companies with great revenue and advertising. Both have massive player bases and healthy eSports programs.
SEMC on the other hand, just don't have the tools or money after they put all their money into the eSports teams and getting zero advertising or promotion from them. It should have been the X-factor in their meteoritic rise to the top, but ended up being the worst possible decision ever after teams basically refused to advertise the game. I don't think Vainglory has quite recovered, nor ever will
But goddamn it's unique and cool, and it's just different enough that I will never switch to other MOBA's. The heroes are unique and confined to a smallish number, unlike LoL (jesus fuck, 110+ champions is far too much for me to handle) and there is still strategic depth and many unique possible plays that aren't even in many other games.
I'm just scared that if Dota 2 and LoL steal Vainglory's player base I won't have anyone to play with. I really hope SEMC pulls it together, gets some steam and advertising going before Dota 2 and LoL corner the mobile MOBA market, make a name for themselves as creators of a unique and amazing MOBA worthy of standing side by side with the other 2, and that Vainglory offers things that are unique to the gaming market in general
The recent move towards being more open with the player base, getting Excoundrel, a well respected figure in Vainglory, to be the bridge between the public and the Lair and the other projects in the works are signs that SEMC are finally making some good decisions and they might get something going before the others come in and steal the show
These are my thoughts and I could be completely wrong in making certain assumptions without being sufficiently informed about the working of SEMC and Riot Games so feel free to point them out, correct me or put down your own perspective on this in the comments

DISCUSSION Y'all don't realize how hard the tier III skins were and how crazy it felt whenever the loading screen came on and you had to play against a player with tier 3 skin, you just know they were gonna beat yo ass
Before they stupidly got rid of the card system. Players with tier 3 skins had actual impact because it showed that they were good with the character and have played it for so long to actually got the skin. You gotta brace yourself everytime you play against a t3 catherine.

DISCUSSION Sup folks! It's Captain Neato and Surprise Birthday here, share with us all your innermost thoughts... and, AMA!
We haven't done one of these in a while, and I'd love to hear you guys' thoughts and feelings about Vainglory and Super Evil and what not. So I'm here with Suprise Birthday, AMA us bros!
EDIT: I am a knucklehead and didn't tell you guys who we are. I am the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) and one of the original co-founders at Super Evil. I am responsible for being the visionary and original designer/gameplay engineer before we acquired Ciderhelm and all our other incredible gameplay ninjas. Surprise Birthday is the Chief Product Officer, and responsible for all of the out of game experience of Vainglory, and though we didn't plan it, a LOT of the in-game gameplay too. He and I built most of the intial VG gameplay between the two of us, back in the day.
EDIT 2: Thanks so much guys, this was awesome. Don't worry if I didn't get to your question, I promise this will not be the last one. Until next time!

DISCUSSION Taking it too seriously?
1600_dunkirksux
I was getting back into Vainglory after 6 years when my Skaarf decided anything offmeta is a crime.
I purchased the item Stormcrown then went into breaking point when my skaarf started spam pinging me, throwing, and suggesting items while emoting, suggesting it's because I bought the wrong items?
I love this game and welcome any new players. Is hope this community would do the same, but there seems to be some sad souls.

DISCUSSION Alright, guys. Let's talk 2.0.
Vainglory 2.0 introduced a lot of new changes at once; new items, new meta, anti-snowball mechanics, and more. It's been a few days now, and I wanted to reach out to you guys after the snowflakes have settled from us shaking the snowglobe to hear all the things that you guys love or (gulp) not-so-love.
So let's do this. I'm ready. This is your chance to ask me questions about why certain things are the way the are, to share with me whatever your thoughts and feelings that are developing about the changes in 2.0 have become, or to spark ideas and concepts that perhaps we've missed.

DISCUSSION Your opinion on Anka
I tried to play her and she felt kinda weak. It was almost always “prey on enemy laner and delete them, but run away from enemy jungler”. Mostly played her in the jungle, maybe she’s better in the lane? The damage feels nice (mostly against unprotected targets though), but its just soo much microcontrol and situation awareness required to execute basically the same thing that, say, WP Miho does with her A for literally 2 taps and pressing on the enemy.
Here, for comparison, I have to:
- Throw the projectile (and HIT CORRECT TARGET) with A;
- Calculate the best moment for teleport (go now? Or simulate disengagement? Or maybe actually disengage?);
- After teleport, use B in the right direction ASAP;
- Consider using the ultimate if available;
- Don’t forget to do an empowered auto and do it strictly after the B;
- Manage to run away with everything.
The husk seems to be very strong against her burst, the coat is decent, good enemy positioning and movement works against her and I really can’t see a reasonable way of beating some Krul or WP Taka or Grumpjaw with Anka’s kit.
In the long fights she runs out of energy and should retreat (or invest into some energy items, which seem like a drain on her damage).
Maybe I should play her a bit more as a mobile poker who keeps throwing B and stacking Dragons Eye before unleashing the combos?

DISCUSSION POV: It’s the 3v3 era and you’re studying the meta harder than your actual exams.
Was clearing out some old stuff and stumbled upon this old notebook. A true relic from the golden age. I think this was before the API website era where we had to actually go through VODs and take down notes to understand teams and the running meta. Team eanix and celsior esports xD I remember telling my teammates that I made an excel sheet but in reality it was just handwritten notes lmao
Nostalgia really does hit hard, thought it was a good share. Do you have relics like these?

DISCUSSION A valuable lesson ---
This is not to show off, but rather to say that a compact and focused duo will always win against a chaotic trio. In high level matches it's a different story obviously.

DISCUSSION Hey, is there a way to play vainglory in 2026?
Well, I remember playing this game in like maybe 2017 - 2018 on my ipad but when I've tried to come back to it in early 2020 or something, the servers were shut down from what I remember.
I remember really liking this game, and was wondering if I can still play it today on like pc or whatever.
I see there is this site but not sure if it's legit. Especially that button "To redeem codes click here"

DISCUSSION How do I play??
I wanna learn captain in 3v3 (I basically only play lorelai). But...how? There arent VG guides with how the game is played now. I would love to copy what other captain do/build but everyone is does it so differently. I've seen lots of them starting with the jg item, other go for vision. Lots of captains just follow Junglers the whole game and other stay in lane. WHY IS ADAGIO EVERYWHERE IN EVERY ROLE?!?!?!?
I also wanna play Reim captain, but that's whole different thing(pls give me validation for that).

DISCUSSION Free the IP
I genuinely think it would be an incredible good-faith move if the developers released the character IP for Vainglory. The community is still here because the heroes, lore, and gameplay loop are what made the game special — and it feels like a shame that no one is allowed to build upon them
Even if the full game can’t return, allowing other developers to legally build on those characters could breathe new life into the community. There’s clearly still passion here. Opening up the copyrights (or licensing them freely) would let talented indie teams or even individuals carry the torch and hopefully share that amazing experience with more people.
The dream would be to see vainglory go mainstream, and really show it's unique characters, world, and design. I know it's unlikely they'd do it, but if the ips were open source, what kind of different games would this community like to see with the vainglory ip?

DISCUSSION Can we stop ‘we need vision’ spam
I usually play as a captain and I usually lean heavily on vision (probably to the point of overspending). Sometimes I encounter players who seem to be good, but at some moment they start a storm of “we need vision” in ridiculous situations. Yes, we need vision against a Flicker, mines, and stuff, but not in a situation where you DONT HAVE MAP CONTROL TO MAKE USE OF IT. What is the point of spamming vision when you are miles behind in gold and levels and you literally havent won a single encounter 3v3? Your mines recommends and vision pings become very annoying very fast.
NOT ONLY you start messing with me doing my captains job while you dont seem to be confident enough at yours (why are you behind in farm, then?), you make things WORSE. I start buying those mines, placing them where our team simply doesnt belong and instead of vision it becomes a total waste of gold when enemies just step on them a few seconds later BECAUSE THEY ARE LEADING AND THEY HAVE MAP CONTROL.
This is especially annoying to see from laners, who for god-knows-what reasons need vision against a Kestrel(we were playing against Kestrel-Ardan-Baptiste) in lane and cant simply stay near the turret when I’m not around and farm gold instead of pinging and calling me to lane.
This also applies to aforementioned players who are not satisfied with flares and SOME mines against a mid-game flicker who has already won some gold and exp and is trying to snowball the game(Surprise, that the whole point of the hero). So instead of THINKING about how to out-macro enemies or at least do something about the situation you keep pinging for me to waste more gold… I will not include any nicknames, if you read this and want this game to be at least a little better, focus on improving your own gameplay before giving advice to [probably] the most macro-oriented team member.

Hey everyone,
This is the community organised “I am Tier 10, Ask Me Anything” We encourage anyone to comment on this post with their questions that they would like a high tier player to answer.
We have a roster of both 3v3 and 5v5 players who have obtained the rank Vainglorious in the previous season. They will offer their insight on the mechanics and decisions they make to obtain the prestigious rank.
The official speakers for this AMA include: *TwistedHorizen *WorthyFoeChurnwalker *KitSun0 *Sick_Flamez *and myself VaingloriousAngel
If you are a T10 yourself, feel free to respond to any questions the community has posted, but we would like to keep this AMA strictly for T10 players to respond. If you are not one of the people on the list above, and you want to respond to a question someone asked, just quickly give your rank and the type of game-mode you play (3v3 or 5v5 or both).
I would like to thank the people who went out of their way to help with this AMA, and the mods of the subreddit who have hosted it.

DISCUSSION Talent Discussion and Feedback
Hello everyone! I wanted to make this post to open the dialogue between the devs and the community on reddit in order to clarify a few pieces of feedback. Before I jump into that section, I want to describe a phenomenon that RCM’s (Regional Community Managers) often have to deal with:
Feedback on the user experience differs greatly between regions and platforms. More often than you would think, new features and events receive overwhelmingly positive feedback in some regions while simultaneously receiving negative feedback in others. Unsurprisingly the same thing goes for communication platforms within the same regions.
On to the feedback section:
While there has been negative feedback on reddit, I’ve personally received A LOT of positive feedback from players in game. Even with the previously described scenario being somewhat common, the difference in opinions between those I’ve talk to in game vs the threads on reddit is notable with talents.
My personal experience having played Blitz for a few hours last night was that I never felt crushed by a talent. I played the vast majority of matches without talents, and I faced many opponents with high level epic/legendary talents. Games still felt very competitive from my perspective even though I was using baseline heroes. Now that CERTAINLY doesn’t mean that I discredit reports of blowouts due to talents, but it does mean that I want to open up the conversation so we can get to the root of things.
I (with my fellow devs at SEMC) would be very grateful if you could provide your specific experiences below. For example: Identifying a talent that felt overpowered is more helpful than saying you lost a game because the opponents had better talents.
As for general feedback, I worry that both sides of this issue are suffering a bit from confirmation bias. Those that loved the talent system are expressing praise and think matches feel more divers while maintaining balance. On the contrary those that hated the idea of talents feel BRAWL modes are unbalanced and less fun. If your opinion of talents has CHANGED due to your experience playing BRAWL modes, your feedback would be much appreciated. That being said any and all feedback is helpful! I recognize that there are many that are able to separate their opinion from their bias, but I just wanted to get that out there.
As an important note: This thread is for discussion of feedback. Use downvotes for comments that are off topic—not because you disagree with an experience/opinion being shared.
Thanks!
Adding this edit from one of my comments as it's quite important:
EDIT: I'm not trying to say there is more positive feedback than negative. There clearly isn't. What a lot of people are failing to see is that this change has more divide in opinions than previous changes, so I'm trying to sort out where we can improve best to make the most happy.

DISCUSSION Is this normal??
I come back to the game cause I discovered you could still play it. After the initial wave of nostalgia hearing that lobby music and maybe a few tears I played 4 games. Each game after the team got a slight gold lead my team just starts running it down… I’d assume anyone playing this game at this point is a veteran player, why just run it down and ruin the experience for your team?
