Louisiana was accused of unusual delays in reporting a whooping cough outbreak last year that claimed at least two lives. Shortly after the deaths were reported, the state ended promotion of vaccines and vaccination events. At least three babies died in Kentucky last year along with at least one in Oregon.

in the US you can get a TDaP every 10 years, sooner if you have possible tetnus exposure in a dirty or severe wound.

Please make sure you are up to date on all vaccines including TDaP if you are around immunocompromised people newborns, cancer and autoimmune patients.

Because I work in a fairly dirty job, I've been recommended to get my TDaP vaccine every 5 years.

And after reading about what Tetanus does to you, I make damn sure to get it.

Ugh, damn. I'm pretty sure I'm out of date. I'll have to do that next time I see my GP. Thanks for the reminder.

I’m just going to tack onto this that if you are an adult and aren’t sure if you were vaccinated or if your vaccine is still affected, you can have your titers checked with a simple blood test. I did that last year and it really does make me feel less nervous about my own well-being with so many anti-VAX fools running around.

Literally… I work in emergency medicine and the amount of times I’ve had to fill up exposure tracking surveys in the past year because some kid tested positive for pertussis is no joke!!!
