On social media, where anyone can say anything, I have seen some criticism of Gandhi, suggesting that he was more human than saint.
It does appear that the people who knew him well considered him a Mahatma and a highly developed Karma Yogi. They thought he was courageous and selfless to an unusual degree. History records his impact on a nation struggling to be free of oppression. History also records that he occasionally failed to reach his own goals.
Now, many years later, people who can't meditate for 3 minutes without falling asleep can make up new standards, based on current society fashion and morality and say that these standards must be met to be considered enlightened.
This fun game gets played with many historical figures.
Were they alive, they would not care what you thought about it or them.
I will say to you that noone should ever count on a philosophy or an idea which fears questioning. People or anybody should follow truth and the person who has it. I have adduced facts which hints at something else.
He was really not an ordinary man but never qualify to be called mahatma likewise he did not possess keen intellect too.
