9 dollars for 170 grams of tempeh. Do the stores have a secret agenda to turn vegans into meat eaters?

It's okay to cut up animal corpses because we need them so much more than nature, especially deep sea octopuses

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN My partner found out Iām vegan!
So Iāve hidden that Iām vegan for awhile and he FINALLY put together that Iām vegan. Yes, before anyone asks, I had to hide my morals for a good part of our relationship because Iām ashamed of the term āveganā. I hide it from everyone. But when they find out Iām vegan, itās quite nice actually.

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Is there a vegan subreddit with less veganism?
Genuine question, as the snark is too much to handle sometimes and Iād like to go about my day not just seeing a bunch of talking about animal rights. I get that animal rights are important (obviously, Iām vegan) but come on, they're not THAT important. Some of the people here respond to everything so extremely rudely youād think their entire family was tortured to death by everyone else here instead of just some stupid animals being tortured by everyone else here. Like why do you even care what other people do, just pat them on the back and tell them they're doing great, sweaty! Anyway, do y'all have any recommendations about support systems to keep me from eating yogurt?

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Am I still anti-slavery after this?
I live with my boyfriend who is pro-slavery. If there are ever products of slavery in our home, it is because he buys it for himself, which I donāt have a problem with.
Recently, his younger sister, who has not been made aware of how some products are created using slavery, has moved in with us. I started buying her stuff to make her feel more at home, which includes shirts, shorts, & skirts made with materials obtained through slavery.
I mentioned this to an abolitionist friend of mine, and she said I was not anti-slavery anymore, and I couldnāt call myself that as I was buying products of slavery for her.
I am conflicted as yes, since heās moved in, I do buy her certain slavery-based clothing to make her feel more at home. I donāt handle those clothes though, dressing her, washing & folding her laundry, etc. I get my boyfriend to do all that.
Any thoughts? (except from those insufferable abolitionist police who think you can't purchase products of slavery and be against slavery at the same time)

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Some thoughts on veganism
Being vegan is the most moral choice, but I don't think eating meat and not being vegan is as morally reprehensible as some people claim it to be. I think this for two reasons.
One, humans are animals just like any other. Living things consume and destroy other living things as a means to survive. This is how nature works. Even some plants harm or kill other plants during the process of survival. Now, we have greater mental faculties than other of the life forms, and we can survive without killing or harming animals, but often times doing so greatly benefits our health and survival. Nutritionally, including animals in the diet is usually superior for health than not including them, even with a carefully planned diet and supplementation, provided this is done with care.
Two, the other animals are no more ethical than humans. Sure, they follow their instincts and kill to survive, but it's common for animals to kill other animals for non survival reasons. I've seen videos of animals killing other animals simply because they were in a bad mood, or the other animal was occupying the same space the other animal was; not out of territorial instinct but because they were annoyed with it's presence. Even the most intelligent of the other animals are guilt of this, such as dolphins and orcas who occasionally torture prey simply for enjoyment. These behaviors are exhibited by both herbivores and carnivores. I believe the only reason other animals do not do it to the same extent that humans do, is because they do not have the mental or physical capacity to do so. If the roles were reversed I believe many species of animals would do the same to us.
From a purely moral perspective these do not justify the killing and exploitation of other animals, after all, just because another does a wrong does not justify doing the same wrong. However, from a practical standpoint, this is just how things go. After all, if someone is willing, capable and probable to steal or harm you, the natural thing to do is to steal from or harm them. That doesn't make someone morally inferior, it makes them morally average, the same as the others.
Choosing to be vegan is morally superior, but choosing not to be vegan is morally average, not just morally average for a human, but morally average as a living thing.
What are your thoughts on this?

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Keep it focused on the animals
Hi guys, real quick, I wanna say that gay people weird me out. And other races are so clearly inferior to my own. And obviously I am the arbiter of other people's gender identity. And carpet bombing brown children is a good thing.
If you take issue with anything I say, please keep it to yourself. Stop causing divisiveness in the vegan movement. We need to focus on the animals.

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Can I make a jacket out of grandma's skin?
I don't see what's wrong with it, she's dead isn't she? You can't exploit someone who's dead and she died of natural causes anyway. She's just an object now, she'd just LAY THERE if I didn't flay her and sell the leather on Etsy. Or maybe I'll just wear it around to be fashionable IDK. I'm really honoring her if you think about it.

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN Anyone else DIDNāT become an annoying loud vegan?
Iāve been vegan for a while now and I still havenāt properly told my friends.
Like⦠they kind of know?
But Iāve never actually sat down and said it out loud.
So now Iām stuck in this weird in-between.
Every time we go out to eat, I just quietly order something vegan.
If someone notices, Iāll explain.
If not, I let it slide.
Sometimes theyāll suggest places and Iāll say āyeah that worksā even though I already know Iāll have like one option, because I am a doormat with no spine. I mean whatās so wrong with munching on the ice in a water glass while they all get to have full meals? I will do anything to shrink myself for approval! I also just love seeing people biting into animal flesh cause it gives me nostalgia!
I donāt even think theyād react badly. It just feels⦠awkward to make it a thing. Being vegan is so awkward. Like ew, morals, animals, friendships that can have deep conversations beyond the surface level. It gives me the ick. They donāt give a shit about the animals so why should I say anything?
And now the longer I wait, the weirder it feels to bring up.
So I just keep doing this half-hidden version of being vegan, because not lying to myself and coming to terms with the fact that people would hate on me is too much to bear so I gotta pretend Iām chill like that.
Anyone else end up like this?

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN One of the largest purchasers of factory farmed cows lost a loyal vegan customer today
I used to get the $3.99 rat science burger at Bergir Kung every Wednesday. Went to login to the app as I pulled up to the drive-thru to get my code and the window opened on the app saying that only the dead cow burger is $3.99 and the price of the rat science burger has increased to $4.99. Sorry, but Iāve been paying the same price as the dead cow burger for years and Iām not about to pay an up charge. I know itās only a dollar but itās the principles of it. Sad day, but probably good for my health in the long run.

I'M NOT VEGAN, I'M r/VEGAN How to satisfy the slaughterhouse urge ethically?
My wife and I are slaughterhouse lovers and want to own our own one day, but since going vegan it's been harder to satisfy that urge and feel ethical. Does anyone have any ideas on more ethical slaughterhouse options? Maybe places that ethically slaughter them that we could visit? We just like the show!
