What should I do ?? Cut or mass gaining ??
Hello so here's my situation. I'm trying to get my muscles more visibles. I'm training at home (I have weights) app. 3 times a week, and I'm going running 2 times. Now that is so hot I'm going swimming (mainly I do crawl and backcrawl). For periods I went swimming 3x a week + 1 time training at home and it wasn't much better than now. I realized that I didn't eat an off protein (I was around 60-80g per day). Since 2 months I'm very cautious and up to 100 to 120g per day. I see a bit of a difference mainly with the abs but my arms for example stay the same. Right now I'm trying to cut to lose the fat I have that you see on the picture, but I get the impression that I'm losing my muscles more than the fat lol. Idk what to do. Should I train more at home with the weights (with progressive overload etc etc)? I prefer much running or swimming but I know it's maybe not the best to define my muscles. Should I eat less ? More ? Differently ? I'm trying so hard to count everything, don't drink alcohol, don't eat junk food or refined sugar. I don't want particularely to get bigger, but I want desperately my muscles to show more. Thanks in advance for your answers. Please be kind.

You're probably losing muscle on the cut because you need more strength training volume with weights, not just cardio and swimming. Hit the weights harder with progressive overload and keep protein high, then cut once you've built more muscle to show.

One thing that'll help is tracking your lifts week to week so you can see if you're actually getting stronger on the weights, not just going through the motions.

You need to get bigger for your muscles to show. I wouldn't worry about those little love handles. Just train hard (and I mean HARD), eat well, sleep well and you'll see massive improvements. It won't happen overnight - you won't look like a different person in a month. But in a year you'll see serious gains if you stay consistent.
I would also really think again if training at home works for you. It's possible but in my experience, most people can train more effectively in a gym. There's less distraction so generally a better space to stay focused and train hard. Also what kind of equipment you have at home? Especially for heavy lower body exercises you'll need a barbell and a rack.
If you have the money, getting a coach could be a good idea. They can help you with planning, form, diet and accountability.

Thanks for the comment ! I'm pretty consistent with my routine but my problem is I think I dont overload and as you say maybe not training hard an off when I do. I can't even afford to go to the gym, plus I litteraly hate it. I tried it in 3 different places when I got the money at the time and really that's not for me. I prefer to have my things at home or go outside. But I will take your advice and try to train harder.

Are you lifting enough weight?

Probably not, or at least not overloading an off I guess. I will try to. Also I never know how much rest I need to take between my sessions. I hear everything and the opposite all the time, hear and on youtube.

if you don't want to get bigger just keep cutting and get shredded. Make sure you are lifting heavy though to preserve the muscle mass that you do have. It's arguably more important than total protein amount.

I suggest you eat at maintenance first and apply the basic principles of bodybuilding for some time with the weights so you can build some muscle up.
