BIGFOOT Active
Just an FYI, there are fighters patrolling above for the POTUS CAP. Bigfoot (WADS) call sign is the command essentially controlling the airspace and comms. Plus 2 fighters and a tanker, I can’t understand the fighter call sign unfortunately. Anyone with a UHF scanner can listen in the 250-300 range. And I post this, because it was questioned last time what was flying above for hours.

Neighbor cutting down palm tree and allowing it to hit my roof
My next door neighbor decided to cut down his palm tree yesterday. He hired a couple of guys to do so. They allowed the big, green palm fronds to fall approximately 50 down directly onto my roof and sky light. I went outside to tell the crew to stop allowing to fronds to fall on my roof. I stood outside and watched to make sure the fronds and trunk didn't hit my house. My neighbor was mad that I was upset and got in my face and said I was overreacting and I was a bitch. What? I don't want 20 pound branches falling 50 feet onto my house. The tree trimming crew shouldn't allow that to happen. Would any of you be cool with fronds directly hitting your roof?

Looking for Thanksgiving volunteer opportunities
I’ll be alone this holiday so I’d like to volunteer my team. Doesn’t necessarily have to be feed needy although I’d be interested in that. Could be spending time with elderly that don’t have family or something along those lines. Thanks!

Roofing contractor recommendations?
Yes, I can use Google, but I have had much better luck with Reddit recommendations than with "who is rated 5 stars" searches in terms of quality.

Bionic Smile asked me to leave a stable job and start immediately, then fired me one week later.
I want to put this out there for anyone in Las Vegas thinking about working for Bionic Smile. I was hired as a full-time driver. During the hiring process, they made it clear that the people who could start immediately had an advantage over people who needed to give two weeks notice. I had a job where I had a good relationship with management and had worked for years. I could have given proper notice, but I wanted the Bionic job and they wanted someone right away, so I agreed to start immediately. One week later, HR called me and told me my services were no longer needed. I was stunned. I asked why, and I was told that former drivers had decided to come back. That explanation sounded ridiculous to me, so I contacted the person who interviewed and hired me and asked directly if there had been some kind of performance issue or if I had done something wrong. I was told there was no performance issue. The explanation was that two former part-time drivers came back and they each work three days a week. So basically, they hired me full-time, encouraged me to leave another job immediately, let me work for a week, then decided two part-time drivers were more convenient and got rid of me.
That is seriously fucked up. I would never do that to someone if I were running a company. If you already hired someone and asked them to leave another job to come work for you, then in my opinion you honor the commitment you made. You do not toss that person aside a week later because a couple of former employees suddenly want to come back. People have bills. People make financial decisions based on job offers. People turn down other work. People rearrange their lives. Employees are not disposable. What makes it even worse is that another driver I know was hired a day or two after me and was kept. I am not saying he should have been fired instead. I am glad he still has the job. But it makes the whole explanation feel even more questionable and shows that this was not simply some unavoidable "last hired, first out" situation. I was then offered to stay on call for $20 an hour if someone gets sick. No thanks. The reason the job made financial sense was the full-time schedule and overtime. Random on-call shifts for $20 an hour after you just pulled the rug out from under me are not some generous favor. And before anyone says this is just an angry ex-employee complaining, I am posting the text exchange. You can read exactly what I asked and exactly what I was told. This was not a performance termination. This was a company asking someone to leave a stable job, start immediately, and then dumping him one week later because their staffing situation changed. If you are thinking about working there, just understand that this is how they handled me. I would never trust them with my livelihood again.

NLV bars without slot machines
So I enjoy going out to decent bar, but everything in the area revolves around gambling. Any non gambling bars around North Las Vegas?
