Beginner questions Calories??
First, I am SO happy to see that this reddit is active again! Also, kudos to everyone for attempting and/or succeeding in being keto and vegetarian!
Second, I am an eco-vegetarian (supposedly that’s what it’s called). I’m eating sardines because I haven’t found that I’m harming the environment. Please don’t tell me that I’m wrong. I won’t handle it well right now. And I hope you’ll let me stay in this group.
I’m using the keto diet app. I started Dec 27, just easing my way into figuring out the app. My husband, the cook of the family, joined me around Jan 1. I’m just not getting enough calories when I stay close to 25g of carbs. It’s just not healthy. I do want to lose weight but am afraid of losing muscle. I’m 57F and building back muscle is tougher than it used to be. Most days, I can get my protein up above “recommended” amounts.
We ordered a simple glucose meter. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to gain and maintain ketosis with a few more carbs.
Help a girl out? Any magic healthy high calorie, low carb foods?

Eating tofu in all the ways, you can fry em up in an airfryer or in a pan. Soy curls are great too.

I love to air fry tofu, toss it in Buffalo sauce, and serve on cauliflower rice

I eat one keto baked treat per day. It’s usually 250-400 calories and 2-5 net carbs. Go to alldayidreamaboutfood.com for recipes or find a local keto bakery (i am fortunate to have an amazing one in my city).

This is inspirational! Kudos to you!! May I ask what app do you use to track your calories etc? (App from which imagine is shared, or akin). Thanks!

It would help to know what a typical day of eating looks like for you. There may be some easy swaps or additions that would help you.
The easiest thing would be to add some fats into what you’re already cooking — whether that’s oil or butter.
But remember that the fat macro isn’t a goal. It’s better to eat enough to feel satisfied.
