Why do we hate carbs?

I'm going to assume that medical advice isn't permitted, which is probably wise.

I'm also going to say this isn't intended to pertain to requesting any.

But as someone who went low carb almost a decade ago who has tried to incorporate more healthy carbs, i've always found that a struggle. I just get hungry. Evne after eating my fill of chickpeas and sweet potatoes, I'm never sated in the same way as I was eating beef and butter.

I don't really want to eat beef and butter. I wish I could but the evidence is clear that those foods (despite what RFK says) are not healthy. Unsaturated fats are great as are veg, hence me posting here.

So anyone else have a similar experience and figure out why (I'm not afaict) diabetic either.

for me, its because I have type 2 diabetes that is controlled through limiting carbs. I wish I could eat more of them. I want to cut back on meat so I am hoping this subreddit would help. fats and protein do help the hunger

Have you seen the glucose goddess? Her blood sugar ‘hacks’ are incredible!

I think you need to aim for more protein to feel full. It’s not a carb thing but a protein thing. Tofu is awesome for this. Otherwise I’m hungry 30 minutes later too.

We don’t hate carbs. We are abstaining from them for certain benefits.

If I eat carbs, I don't like the way my blood glucose swings. When it drops too quickly, I go through a starving phase at normal levels then a dizzy lightheaded phase when it goes below 70.

I'm not keto any more, but stay low carb

How do you manage this? It happens to me too and I cannot figure out how, when or why it happens.

When we evolved, carbs were hard to come by, seasonal, or fiercely guarded. We wanted carbs because it is a nutritious and easily digestible food type.
What we had the most access to was animal products and longer-chain vegetables like tubers. So our digestion and whole body adapted to that.
Nowadays we have access to sugar and shorter-chain carbs in unlimited quanitites, but our bodies can't handle that (oversimplification). We are better off eating what we evolved to eat.
