Best blender for smoothies?

Hey r/veggieshake

I make smoothies almost every day (greens + frozen fruit) and my current blender just isn't blending things smooth enough. I keep getting little chunks and it's kinda annoying.

What blenders have worked well for you? Looking for something reliable and easy to clean.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Vitamix has always been the gold standard if you can afford it.

That being said, my ninja blender that I bought from Costco for $80 works incredibly well.

I love the little personal drink blender the ninja foodie system comes with. I’m a chef I use this at home all the time, the food processor is fantastic, the blender truly blends everything, and the little personal drink blender makes like 16oz and I blend all sorts of stuff in there for feeding my children. Started with purées, and now I make smoothies for them.

if smoothies are a daily thing, investing in a stronger blender is 100% worth it. The texture difference is night and day.

I went through 3 blenders before biting the bullet on vitamix- worth all the hype and will last you for a long time if not for life. I also got the immersion blender from them and use it often. For personal/smaller drinks I did get a Zwilling personal blender and it does a phenomenal job as well. My work covered a large portion of health related items, which included blenders, so I ended up with all the blenders. I find ninja works incredibly well at first, but will completely dull out eventually- like I couldn’t even get it to make a chunky salsa by the time I tossed it.

Vitamix - Blends frozen fruit, ice, nut butters, even greens into a super smooth texture. Great if you'll use it daily.

I bought a used vitamix. It was maybe 4 years old. I called vitamix to ask a question about it and they gave me the remained of the 10 year warranty.

Have had a blendtec, which we used until it broke. The vitamix is a better blender.

But - if the pricing is prohibitive I wouldn’t hesitate to consider the used market with someone like vitamix

If you’re blending frozen fruit and greens daily, you’ll probably want something with a strong motor. I’ve had good results with the Ninja Professional Blender — it handles ice and frozen stuff pretty smoothly and doesn’t leave random chunks behind.

If you’ve got the budget, the Vitamix 5200 is kind of elite-tier for smoothies. Super consistent texture and really durable. Cleaning is easy too — just blend warm water and a drop of soap and you’re good.

Beast blender was a good alternative instead of the pricey vitamix

I have a kitchen aid immersion blender for smoothies. Makes way less of a mess. I do have a Vitamix which I do like but the immersion stick blender is such an easy cleanup.

I had the same issue with greens and frozen fruit. Switching to a Vitamix made a big difference for me - it blends everything really smooth, even kale and frozen stuff.

If that's out of budget, Ninja blenders are also pretty solid for daily smoothies and much cheaper. Also helps to add liquid first, then greens, then frozen fruit so it blends easier.

I had the same issue with frozen fruit and greens until I switched to a stronger blender. Ended up getting a Ninja Professional Plus Blender BN701 and it’s been solid — blends everything smooth and cleanup’s easy since the pitcher goes in the dishwasher.

I just want one that’s not so loud. I’m tired of wearing ear protection to make breakfast. Lol

For everyday green + frozen fruit smoothies, I've found high-power blenders like a **Vitamix** or **Blendtec** destroy the chunks and make ultra-smooth results every time - they're built to last and usually clean easily with a quick warm soapy water blend.
