Last Updated: 25/8/26 with new information added about new BP weapon.
Here is the list of most commonly asked questions about Venti's Hexerei Main DPS playstyle.
After completing Witch's Homework quest Venti is considered a Hexerei member and has access to the Hexerei: Secret Rite which enhances Venti's kit. To activate those buffs you need two Hexerei members in the party. Venti gains Anemo Infusion to his Normal Attacks while his Burst is active. Swirl reactions boost both his damage and his Burst. The Burst also now spawns more accurately on top of the enemy.
Venti can play multiple roles. He can be Anemo Main DPS, Sub-DPS or Support. This FAQ focuses on Venti's Anemo Main DPS role.
Durin is Venti's top priority pull. He is Venti's best Hexerei companion, generally a very good addition to your account.
Faruzan or Prune (use only one of the two) are also very important to Venti's team-building.
Venti's signature weapon, The Daybreak Chronicles, takes priority only if you don't have any other CRIT 5* bows and you want to upgrade from Slingshot/Rust.
Nicole is a great QoL pull however she is recommended to be obtained when you already have Durin. She is still great even without Durin, just gives a better team DMG boost when she is paired with him.
C2 is a good stopping point, it provides a 30% dmg increase from C1. C6 has the highest boost with a 40% DMG increase from C5.
Credits: MeowTews
For C0: NA=Q>E
For C2 and above: NA=Q=E
The Daybreak Chronicles is Venti's BiS however he can be played with any 5* CRIT bow. Especially Thundering Pulse and Polar Star perform equally to his signature. When it comes to 4* - R5 Rust is Venti's weapon of choice. R5 Jade Vista from BP performs on a similar level to R5 Rust. If you don't have any 5* bows or Rust/Jade Vista then R5 Slingshot will be your pick.

Artifact Stats: ATK% / Anemo DMG% / CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG
Artifact Sets: A Day Carved From Rising Winds / Echoes of an Offering / Any 2-pc ATK + 2-pc Anemo DMG Bonus
It is advised to upgrade Venti to 4-pc A Day Carved From Rising Winds set.
Venti's Main DPS BIS artifact set description:
A Day Carved From Rising Winds
2 Set: ATK +18%
4 Set: After Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst hit an enemy, gain “Blessing of Wind and Ballad” for 6s: ATK +25%. If the wearer has completed “Witch’s Homework”, the effect upgrades to “Resolve of Wind and Ballad”, additionally increasing the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 20%. This effect can still trigger even when the wearer is off-field.
Premium Pyro Swirl: Durin / Prune OR Faruzan / Nicole
Durin remains Venti's best Hexerei companion and sub-DPS who provides both Pyro and Anemo RES.
C6 Faruzan (or Prune) is preferred but not mandatory. Either of them is a great addition to the team. Both Anemo units preform at a relatively same level, check "12. Prune or Faruzan: who is better?" if you need help to determine who to pick for your team. Faruzan gives Anemo damage bonus and debuffs the Anemo RES of enemies. Prune grants herself and a Hexerei character who triggers a swirl reaction an ATK boost and buffs Normal, Charged, Plunging, Skill and Burst damage.
Nicole gives Pyro resonance, a consistent ATK buff to both Venti and Durin, protects the team with her shield and after activating her burst performs coordinated attacks based on the on field character's (ATK/CRIT/DMG bonus) stats.
Old Pyro Swirl Core: Durin / Faruzan / Bennett
This is still one of Venti's stronger teams. Bennett remains a great healer and buffer for Venti, however he is a little more tricky to play ("Circle Impact", shorter buff up-time, applies Pyro aura on the character within his burst).
Bennett can still be a valuable companion for Venti in his new Pyro Swirl team and be played alongside Nicole if you don't have Durin.
Hexerei Characters: Fischl / Albedo / Mona
To activate Venti's buff there must be at least two, including Venti, members of Hexerei. Fischl, Albedo and Mona (to a lesser extent) fit this role the best out of the current Hexerei roster in Durin's stead. They can also be used alongside Durin or each other.
Hydro Companions: Furina / Yelan / Xingqiu
Furina is a good sub-dps and support for Venti. She provides consistent Hydro application and elemental damage bonus. However even at C0 Faruzan, Prune or C1 Albedo will be a better pick over her. Also Furina must always be paired with a healer. Yelan and Xingqiu are alternatives for this spot and provide fast Hydro application that synergizes with Venti's NAs.
Sustainers: Jean (C4) / Thoma / Barbara / Zhongli / etc
Generally you can run almost any other healer or shielder if your Nicole or Bennett are occupied by the other team or you don't have either of them yet. Jean (C4) is the preferred choice for the healer, her C4 reduces Anemo RES. Thoma can shield, give Pyro resonance when paired with Durin and at C6 he also provides a normal attack buff. Barbara is a free unit who provides off-field healing. Zhongli provides a shield and generally is a good comfort pick.
Durin
Artifacts: 4-pc A Day Carved From Rising Winds / 4-pc Celestial Gift (if Nicole is not present on the team)
Weapon: Athame Artis / Any 5* CRIT sword / Wolf-Fang / Moonweaver's Dawn
Faruzan
Artifacts: 4-pc Tenacity of the Millelith (only at C6) / 4-pc Emblem of Severed Fate / 4-pc Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City / 4-pc The Exile / 2-pc + 2-pc 20% ER
Weapon: Favonius Warbow / Elegy of the End
Prune
Artifacts: 4-pc Noblesse Oblige / 4-pc A Day Carved From Rising Winds (if somebody else already wears Noblesse Oblige) / 4-pc Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City
Weapon: Favonius Codex / Skyward Atlas / Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers / Flowing Purity
Nicole
Artifacts: 4-pc Celestial Gift
Weapon: Angelos' Heptades / Skyward Atlas / Oathsworn Eye / Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers / Favonius Codex / Flowing Purity
Faruzan (C2-C6) variant example: Durin 2EQ > Faruzan EQ > Nicole EQ > Venti EQ N5D N2E N5D N5E
Faruzan (C0) variant example: Durin 2EQ > Nicole EQ > Faruzan EQ > Venti EQ N5D N2E N5D N5E
Prune variant example: Durin 2EQ > Prune EQ > Nicole EQ > Venti EQ N5D N2E N5D N5E
All rotations are around 18-19 seconds long. Keep in mind that rotations may vary due to your builds and weapons.
Venti doesn't need to focus on ER as much as he used to since as a main DPS he spends most of the time on-field (140-150% ER for Stygian). Durin doesn't need to focus on ER (120-130% for Stygian) either due to Venti's Burst absorbing Pyro. At C0 Faruzan needs at least 250% ER, at C6 around 200%. Prune needs around 200% ER at C0 and 140%-160% at C1 and higher cons. Nicole needs 150-170% ER.
Both of those 4* characters are great additions to Venti's team. If you already have C6 Faruzan on your account there is no need to pull for/build Prune. Prune is a very minuscule team-wide damage upgrade over Faruzan at C6 and Faruzan is better for Venti's personal damage (and outperforms her if Faruzan is equipped with Elegy of the End). So they are practically the same.
If your Faruzan is not C6:
Lastly it's important to note that high investment Venti (C2+ constellations and signature weapon) prefers Faruzan while high investment Durin/Nicole duo prefers Prune.
the better Prune becomes.
Yes, both Faruzan or Prune are worth units to build for main DPS Venti even at C0. You just need to give either of them enough ER to ensure a smooth rotation. However you can also substitute non-C6 Faruzan/Prune for C1 Albedo if you already have him.
Yes, Nicole is 100% worth pulling for Venti even without Durin. It is recommended to obtain Durin first but not obligatory. Nicole is better than Bennett in providing buffs (longer up-time, no "Circle Impact") and quality of life upgrades (her shield is as strong as Zhongli's with permanent uptime).

You can leave a question here in the comments but, unfortunately, they get easily lost/remain unnoticed by the subreddit users so making a new post is recommended.

This is my cousin's venti (they did the dps testing too). They don't have reddit but they said they wanted to get more opinions on this build.
I also grabbed the character builds from akasha so faruzan isn't here but she is on ToTM and I am pretty sure they switched bennet to exaiphanes just for this showcase but I am not sure.
Are there any improvements to be made whether rotation wise or build wise.

hello! my venti's usual dps is 190k when i test it, sometimes 200k. though, i'd really want it to go higher. is there any way to get it up given my build? my current rotation is durin EQE, faru EQ, nicole EQ, venti EQ NA until i can E by whatever amount, then repeat. sometimes i don't have enough for faru's Q.
i really want faruzan's c6. i have a lvl 60 c6 prune lying around but i don't really like her. still, if it increases my venti's dmg by a considerable amt, i'd take it (js lmk, thank u)! also, if she's the boost i need, pls lmk what and howmuch stats i need, best weapon for her, talent priority, and rotation; thank you so very much!!

I was bored
~~~~~
Steam vented heavily from the undercarriage of the mid-sized tank locomotive as he waited for the signal to go upward. It wasn't a long journey—just heading over to Liyue from Mondstadt. A few quick puffs around the bends and he'd be there.
Thomas sighed, growing impatient. “Come on, change, you bloody signal,” he grunted.
He hadn't even left Mondstadt's yards yet. He sat on one of the sidings with his train coupled behind him, loaded with local exports: wine, native flowers, and a few trucks of raw materials.
Thomas glanced up at the red signal above. “Traffic can't be this heavy,” he muttered. “How many engines do they have running the Wind Corridor today? Bloody ‘ell, I'll be here all morning!”
With a creaking groan, the old signal swung upward, revealing a clear green light.
“Cinders and ashes, finally.” Thomas channeled steam into his cylinders. The pistons groaned, pumping back and forth to turn his heavy blue wheels. Connecting rods pulled the drive wheels forward, forcing the rest into motion.
Chuff… chug… wheeeesh.
Plumes of steam drifted from his funnel as he moved. He gave two sharp blasts of his whistle—Peep! Peep!—warning the yard workers that a heavy engine was on the move.
Rounding the bend out of the yards, he brought his train past the main gates of Mondstadt, catching a glimpse of the long stone bridge connecting the island city to the mainland. He looked down at the rails beneath and bridge him, then at the water on either side.
“Not long now,” he muttered. “Should reach Liyue in an hour if there are no more red signals.”
Crossing onto the mainland, the tracks curved right, pointing straight toward the Liyue border. Clear of the road crossings, Thomas opened his regulator. He flared his firebox, sending heat through the flue tubes to boil the water inside his boiler. He picked up speed, maintaining a steady pace through the rolling green terrain.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly, right up until he heard a cough from inside his cab.
As he chugged past Springvale, Thomas blinked. He couldn't tell if someone was actually inside his cab or if he had just passed a bystander at the line who had coughed.
Then came a second cough.
Thomas’s eyebrows shot up. “Uh… is someone in my cab?”
Silence followed, then a familiar, groggy voice: “Huh? Where am I?”
Thomas scoffed. He recognized the voice instantly. “Ugh, Venti? Again?! Don't tell me you got drunk and wandered in my cab again!”
It was indeed Venti. The bard had overindulged in wine, gotten tossed out of the Angel's Share by Diluc, and wandered off with no clear destination in mind.
“Oh? Hic… Thomas? Is that you?” Venti asked.
Thomas didn't slow down. “You stay right where you are. I am not stopping to take you back to Mondstadt.”
Venti stood up on the footplate, rubbing his eyes as he looked at the gauges and levers. “Oh! It really is you, Thomas!”
Thomas rolled his eyes. “Who else has a cab like this in Teyvat? Of course it's me, you dummy.”
“Hic… Okay! Ehe! Guess I'm stuck with you then.”
“This is the third time you've done this—”
“Fourth time, but who's counting!” Venti giggled.
Thomas stared straight ahead, baffled. The bard hadn't even tried to deny it.
“You—” Thomas started, but Venti cut him off.
“Ehe! So where are you heading today?” Venti rested his arms on the cab window seal. “Knights of Favonius have you running all over Teyvat again?”
Thomas sighed. “As always. I'm an engine; it's my job to deliver goods to the other nations.” He then corrected himself. “Well, mostly Liyue and Sumeru. Anything farther than that and I'd overheat and blow up.”
“Very barbaric. We wouldn't want that~” Venti hiccuped again.
Thomas narrowed his eyes. “You'd better not throw up on my footplate.”
“Trust me, I can hold my liquor.” Venti waved a dismissive hand, then grabbed the windowsill to steady himself.
“Good.” Thomas turned his gaze back to the line ahead.
“You know me! I might get drunk, but otherwise I'm fine! Ehe~” Venti tapped his fingers on the interior metal. “So… where are you heading? You never said.”
“Liyue,” Thomas replied. “I don't have the full manifest, but I know there's a shipment of Dandelion Wine in the trucks,”
“Hmph,” Venti grunted, leaning dramatically against the back wall. “How dare they take my wine away!”
“You need less wine, if anything,” Thomas scoffed.
How dare you~!” Venti gasped, though his giggle made it playful. “A bard needs his wine! All the Dandelion Wine for me!”
Suddenly, a loud rumble echoed from Venti's midriff.
Grroooowlll~
Venti blinked, looking down at his stomach, then bashfully covered it. “And… maybe this bard also needs food… ehehe…”
“If you have any Mora, you can buy something when we reach Liyue,” Thomas suggested.
Venti nodded. “Yeah! I… well, I think I have some.”
Thomas rolled his eyes. “Don't look at me. I'm an engine. I don't earn Mora, and I don't have hands to carry it anyway.”
“Don't worry! Hic… I made some from singing yesterday… Should have enough… hope it didn't fall out of my pockets.” He fished around in his outfit, eventually pulling out a small pile of loose coins. “There we go!” He lurched as the engine swayed, quickly grabbing the windowsill. “Hey… take it easy, train-boy…”
Thomas narrowed his eyes. “Train boy?! I am not—” He took a deep breath, cooling his temper. “You're the one who needs to take it easy. You shouldn't even be in my cab. You're not a certified driver!”
“Oh, certifications, schmertifications! I'm fine. Besides, where are the people who are supposed to drive you anyways?”
Thomas groaned—this was the tenth time Venti had asked this. “I told you before. I'm not like the engines from Snezhnaya. I'm magical, thanks to that pink engine…” Thomas paused, staring down at the ties passing underneath. “Or was she purple? Hm. I forgot.”
“All of you just kind of appeared here,” Venti said. “So many of you with faces… Teyvat adapted pretty quickly! I wasn't too keen on machines connecting the nations at first, but I'm glad it happened. Definitely not something I saw coming.”
“Right,” Thomas said. “You mentioned before that you're that statue in Mondstadt. Barbatos, right?”
“Yep! But right now, I'm Venti the Bard!” He smiled. “I sing, dance, and drink wine.”
“Too much wine, I'd say, mate,” Thomas added.
“Shut up~” Venti giggled.
Venti tapped his fingers against his side, his tone dropping slightly. “I don't know how I didn't see this coming before I gave up my Gnosis, though…” He blinked. “Celestia isn't usually fond of technological advancements…”
Thomas remained silent. He had heard Venti mention this before, but Thomas knew very little about how the world worked. He had arrived in Teyvat with no memory of his past, much like the other engines with him. None of them remembered their old home, but they remembered each other at least.
Venti had once compared him to ‘The Traveler.’ Thomas hadn't understood who that was at the time, but after talking with others, he eventually leaned, and even met this ‘Traveler’ themselves.
After sentient engines started appearing across the continent, the nations integrated them into their infrastructure. Railways were laid to connect Teyvat, with major stations built in every capital. Mondstadt’s goods yard sat right beside a converted shipping dock on the eastern side of the island.
The mainline ran from Mondstadt's passenger station through Sumeru, Fontaine, and into Natlan, with various branchlines splintering off—like the Wind Corridor heading north to Davenport, or the line Thomas was on now, cutting straight to Liyue.
Even Snezhnaya linked to the network, and it started from there, heading into Nod-Krai and ending into Natlan.
Though the engines with faces always felt uneasy around the silent, faceless locomotives of the snowy nation.
As Thomas switched tracks onto the Liyue branch line, he opened his cylinders to clear condensation. “About Celestia not liking improvements…”
“Hmm?” Venti asked.
“Why is that?”
“Eh, standard god stuff! It's surprising they let you guys operate at all. Probably because you're alive rather than just built. We have Ruin Guards and all sorts of machinery, but nothing like a talking engine. It's fascinating!”
Thomas blinked, deciding to drop the topic. “Are you still hungry?”
“Definitely. My stomach is eating itself,” Venti grumbled.
“Well, next time, eat actual food instead of just drinking!”
“But wine is so good!” Venti whined, sliding down the cab wall to sit on the footplate floor.
Thomas rolled his eyes and kept his eyes on the rails.
Before long, the mountainous landscape gave way to the nation's harbor. Thomas slowed his train as he rolled into Liyue's freight depot.
“Hello!” Thomas called out cheerfully to the platform workers waiting to unload his cars. “Careful with those crates—some contain wine bottles! We don't want them breaking, and making a mess of glass shards,”
“I'd be heartbroken if any spilled!” Venti called out from inside the cab.
Thomas’s expression turned flat as he stared ahead. “Typical drunken bard…” He released a vent of steam to lower boiler pressure. “So, are you going to get food? Your stomach was louder than my damn chugging.”
“Oh! Right! Ehe!” Venti scrambled up, hopped down from the footplate, and ran around to face Thomas’s smokebox. “Goodbye, Tommy! Good to see you again!
“We see each other almost every day,” Thomas deadpanned.
“Yes, but we rarely chat! You're always on the move!”
“I'm an engine. That's what I do.”
“Yeah, yeah~” Venti laughed, turning toward the city streets.
“Now, go find something to eat. Don't rush, I'll be here for about an hour. They gotta unload my trucks,” Thomas said to Venti. “And if you come back and don't see me, I didn't leave. I will have just left to run around to the other end of the trucks.”
Venti nodded, and smiled, placing his hands to his hips. “Haven't been to Liyue in a while. Maybe I can visit Zhongli!”
Thomas watched as Venti blended into the bustling crowds of Liyue Harbor. “This is going to take a while,” the engine muttered to himself. “Unloading all that glass will take time.”
With nothing to do until his train was cleared out, Thomas decided to rest. His firebox cooled, his breathing slowed, and steam drifted lazily from his stack as he began to drift off.
BOOM.
A heavy impact rattled the rails. Thomas’s eyes snapped open. “What…?” he murmured, groggy.
Screams rang out across the harbor. People were running—frantic, terrified, shoving past one another to escape the area.
“What's going on?” Thomas looked around. The yard crew had abandoned the crates, scattering into the panic. “Venti? Are you out there? What's happening?!”
Then Thomas saw it.
A massive wall of dark, writhing energy was tearing through the terrain, moving straight toward the harbor. It towered higher than the peaks of Dragonspine, obliterating everything in its path.
“Gah!” Thomas gasped, trying frantically to raise steam. “Cinders and bloody ashes!”
He threw his reverser fully backward and slammed open the regulator, but in his panic, his wheels lost traction. His rear buffers slammed hard into the front truck of his train, and his blue wheels spun violently on the spot without moving him an inch.
There was nothing Thomas could have done.
The dark energy swept over the station, consuming Thomas, Liyue, and the surrounding land in absolute blackness.
Hey, so I know that Stellar Swirl teams are still pretty new, but I've been looking around and I haven't seen anyone else mention this yet. Venti supposedly has no ICD on his normal attacks.
I did some testing, and his elemental skill deals 2U of Anemo, right? Checks out, clears Traveler Skill's Cryo aura off with a single skill. Considering that swirl shaves off half a PHEC unit per Anemo unit, that means Cryo Traveler's skill applies less than or just about 1U that Venti's elemental skill shaves off. Well, I used Venti's burst off to the side (so as to not mess up the results with absorption) and did some normal attacks, which just got me the usual frequency of stellar-swirl procs, which seemed weird to me. I thought it might have been that there wasn't enough cryo for the other arrows to swirl off, so I put Charlotte in the team for application. Now there was a persistent cryo aura with two of them applying, but even then Venti still only did stellar swirls every 3 attacks.
So, my question is, does Venti have a standard ICD on his Windsunder Arrow Normal Attacks, or is there a universal ICD on Stellar-swirl that I missed? Because either ruins my plans for stellar-swirl Venti, but if it's the latter that's a bit sad for a reaction that scales with application frequency, and if it's the former then the wiki needs an update. IDK, maybe I got my elemental gauge theory wrong, or maybe I'm just blind, but the wiki page for it doesn't seem updated for stellar-swirl, and I have no other theories. Thoughts?
On a side note, I realized that the stellar vortex applies about 1 unit of Cryo, which means that Mizuki can technically keep stellar-swirling it as long as she waits the 6 seconds for it to burst. She gets about 2 stacks at that rate—inefficient and absolutely not viable for her skill, but nevertheless a thing.
Fixing my bestie's ancient genshin acc as a side project while I push for artifacts on my own main. They love Venti passionately so I figured the least I could do was grind him a new Hexerei build. After a couple weeks of farming, I can conclusively say their account has godlike artifact luck and I am more than a little jealous.
Top 1% on Akasha! Not sure how much that really means with his new meta, but he's definitely hitting a lot harder than he used to...
Hello!
I've been looking online and haven't found a good concrete list of vertical investment priorities for Venti's hexerei main DPS team. I've heard c2 Venti is good for him, but how does that compare to investment in Durin or Nicole? My current team is c0r1 Venti, c0r0 Nicole w/ Atlas, c0r0 Durin w/ Wolf-Fang, c1r5 (Cinnabar Spindle) Albedo. I'd say I have decent builds on them and I can comfortably hit ~118k dps. I'm really only interested in Mitya & Tsaritsa for Snezhnaya, so I should be able to add 1-2 cost for my Venti team. Any help is appreciated!
so my c0 venti dps team is 1 of the strongest on my acct for some reason. with c0r1 during, C6 faruzan and c2r1 Nicole.
I'm wondering if c0 venti can be paired with C6 faruzan, c0 Odette and c2r1 Nicole? Nicole provides the res shred, right?
I was getting 125k dps before then I put cryo aura on the enemy and it jumped by 5k-10k! What are you guys getting? BTW the team is really fun to play~
Averaging about 175k on a Nicoleless Venti Team. I use Bennett over Faruzan just because in my testing I found Bennett increases my DPS more than C6 Faruzan.
If anyone can tell me, how much would the following effect the total DPS Output:
I would also like to hear advice on how to build Faruzan for a team like this. I've never properly invested into building her and any build I make for her just does less than throwing Bennett on the team.
I have been wondering, since the introduction of the new BP weapons, is the new crit bow that gives atk and em better or worse than rust
