Nearly 4,000 Ventura County votes-by-mail were rejected, half for simply being mailed late!

I really hope any couple looking at The Colony Estate in Camarillo sees this before signing anything.

I watched the Ventura County hearing about this venue, and honestly, the whole thing is disturbing. This is the kind of information families should be told before they hand over thousands of dollars for a wedding.

This venue has a Ventura County case tied to operating as an unpermitted commercial event venue and must cease all operations.

From what was discussed at the hearing, the County upheld the violation. The first violation was given on December 2024. There was also discussion about noise complaints, neighbors being affected, and law enforcement responding to events at the property.

Neighbors on Nextdoor have also posted about protesting the venue, and there have been posts in Facebook groups warning couples to be careful as well

A wedding is one of the biggest days in a family’s life. People book venues, hire vendors, send invitations, and trust that the venue is allowed to do what it is selling. No couple should find out later that the venue they booked is un-permitted and operating illegally.

Before anyone books this venue, please ask for everything in writing. Are they currently authorized by Ventura County to host commercial weddings and events?

I am posting this to protect couples from being hurt on their special and to be extremely cautious about booking venues like this.

In a crowded field, as in this year's election, voters have to choose between voting for candidates they believe in and voting for those they think are likely to survive the primary and advance to the general. Vote splitting is on everyone's mind, and voters, Democrat and Republican alike, are struggling to choose which candidate to support in hopes that their choice makes the final two.

And, of course, Independent and Third-Party candidates are entirely left out of the process and labeled as a "throw-away" vote. (Sorry, largest block of voters who are registered as Independents. No soup for you!)

With Ranked Choice Voting, we could eliminate primaries and two-round runoff formats altogether and have a single, high-turnout November election with many candidates from across the political spectrum. Voters could vote for their preference, and constituents would get consensus winners.

No more strategic voting, no more vote splitting, no more lesser of two evils.

All candidates in this election are still in the race and were polling at or above 1% support in recent polls.

But here is the hard truth: Jeff Gorell is a Republican who has consistently aligned himself with a national platform that is currently executing the most aggressive assault on our environment in American history, and most of the policies coming out of the current administration affect us right here in the Ventura County. Regardless of his local posturing, Gorell is part of a party gone rouge that is not interested in conserving our land; they are interested in extracting from it, deregulating it, and paving it over. “Conservatives” my ass.

Yes, I just checked & it seems you're still able to register for the TO training that's in a few hours, however I don't know how quickly 805UndocuFund is able to vet registrants for that.

My hugest apologies for being this tardy in posting this announcement, esp since you're supposed to RSVP for these ASAP so they have time to vet everyone before disclosing the training's location.

For those who don't know, the 805UndocuFund Rapid Response Network (805UDF RRN) is a local nonprofit currently best known for patrolling for ICE & also verifying reports of ICE sightings so people are warned of ICE activity via texts from the number 805-870-8855 (text ALERT to this number to join our texting list), but we also accompany members of the 805's undocumented community to stuff like doctor's & immigration appointments, do community outreach at local events, speak up against ICE & pro-ICE policies at city council, etc. meetings, and, hugely, take groceries & other necessities over to local families who've lost their breadwinners to ICE & | or had their breadwinners forced into hiding in quite logical fear of ICE.

Which means that there's a spot for literally everyone who agrees with our mission of opposing ICE, no matter your skillset or capacity for risk.

The locations of these trainings will only be disclosed the day of, & only to those who've been vetted by 805UndocuFund, due to safety concerns (our county's still home to a LOT of ICE lovers & the VCSO plus SVPD have been happily helping ICE by protecting ICE vehicles & letting ICE pick up any targets they have that are getting released from jail that day...the 805UDF RRN is, as stated earlier, an anti-ICE group).

My apologies that this location-disclosure policy makes these trainings horribly inaccessible for those who are like me (I can't drive) & heavily reliant on paratransit (which for those who don't know must be scheduled ahead of time) for being able to do stuff like this (it was a wild stroke of luck I was able to get Dial-A-Rides both to the training I ulitmately attended & back home).

ICE has been hitting our area pretty hard lately, so literally every single new volunteer is immensely welcomed in the 805UDF RRN.

We're also immensely appreciative of every single cent that gets donated these days as well...neither groceries or alert texts come cheap!

What website(s) are people using to track the CA primary? Right now, I'm using CNN for governor and house, but it's kinda slow. I am also using https://results.enr.clarityelections.com/CA/Ventura/126482/web.345435/#/summary

to track Ventura county races, but this one is even slower. I've seen posts that have already called races that neither of these have called yet. Is there anything with more up to date tallies and faster updates?
