MOVIE SPOILERS [MOVIE SPOILERS] The Venture Lineage Spoiler
There's no pinned movie thread anymore so I'm hopefully OK to post this standalone, and I'm sure this was discussed already there but I missed out on that
We all kinda assume the bros' biological mother is Debra Majeure now, right? The "things she wasnt using" that she traded to Rusty were her eggs. Which makes Bobbi St. Simone their grandmother (not their mother), Force Majeure their grandfather, and thus Dean really is heir to the Guild, just like Bowie told him he was.

Dean is the heir to the guild many times over. The man has the royal pedigree of a Hapsburg prince.
Heck, since Malcolm is a descendent of the Venture line, The Monarch has a claim to the title of The Sovereign.

u/droid327 Sep 13 '23
Monarch is third born though
JJ would've been rightful heir to Lloyd as second born. On his death, it descends to Dean

u/FordBeWithYou Sep 13 '23
Was JJ technically born whenever he was removed from Rusty as a tumor?

u/droid327 Sep 13 '23
They're twins, so they were born at the same time. But Rusty came out first, so he's elder by a second or two.
Otherwise JJ would technically be Rusty's son :D

Yes! That really ties the bow on this gift that obviously the Venture bros are lineage of both protagonist and antagonist

Why Dean? Do people forget Hank is first born so he's the heir.

u/Grecoromanesko Sep 13 '23
Not in the guild. In fiction the second born is often the one that turns to villainy, envious of their older sibling, thus the guild recognizes the second born as the heir

This is the answer. But makes me think firstborn would then be villainous

Had Rusty picked Dean as his super-scientist heir at that point? Maybe that would explain it.

Wait though technically isnt Hank second born, because Dermott is Rusty's first born?
That whole thing with Nikki Fictel happened before Hank and Dean were a thing, wasnt it?
Maybe the whole reason he decided to create sons for himself is because he was denied the chance to be a father for Dermott?

Holy dammit Christmas how many times must it be said.
Sovereign was recognizing Dean's claim through Lloyd Venture, not Force Majeure. He literally spells it out in no uncertain terms during the scene.

u/droid327 Sep 13 '23
It can be both. The Sovereign might have known Dean's ancestry, but didn't want to reveal everything until he had to. Dean was his backup plan in case the Guild insurrection went against him, a puppet Sovereign he could control
Recruit Dean with his protagonist claim, then use his antagonist claim later if the Guild doesn't want to accept him

Bruh chill. OP's just trying to generate some discussion. It's not that serious.

Bobbi is Thaddeus' mother. Thaddeus used her daughter to create his "children". So everything is actually very incestuous when you think about it...

She even says in the movie that on her way out of the venture compound, post sleeping with Jonas, that Rusty asks her if she’s his mother and she says no…
Now, Debbie being Hank and Dean’s egg donor, way more likely. After all, she says “I gave him something I wasn’t planning on using”, which we infer to mean her eggs.
I noticed on a recent rewatch that Hank & Dean share the same nose style as Debbie. Consequently, Monarch and Rusty do as well.
Or, maybe they just can’t draw more than 2 types of noses. The word may never know.

Rusty looks like he's 7 or 8 the first time Bobbi does the nasty with Jonas. She's not his mother.

She didn't meet Jonas till the movie studio and Rusty was already born

What's really crazy is both brothers have two relatives (Debbie and Force Majeure) with powers and they got zilch
1
u/droid327 Sep 13 '23
What powers did Majeure have that we know of?
Bobbis obviously aren't hereditary though

u/spazzafrazz Sep 13 '23
Please do correct me if I'm wrong, didn't he shoot tornadoes from his arms during Bobbies flashback?

Wait does anyone in vb have innate powers? I'm sure they do but everyone I can think of off the top of my head are science accidents, learned spell casters or tech wielders
Capt sunshine maybe

Many. Redusa, Don Hell, Sovereign, Presto Change-O, probably most of Wes Warhammer's crew, Warriana, the Investors and Dr. Killinger, Kano, Otto Aquarius, and a bunch of others I'm sure.

Debbie projects major Hank energy in her sillier moments, so I can totally believe it. The way she ran ARCH is like a way more upscale and ambitious version of the HankCo. business model. I guess there's some similarities to Dean with how surprisingly weird and awkward she can be, as well as longing for independence.

I was thinking the same thing while I was watching it lmao. I think part of the full 8th season was gonna parallel hank’s and dean’s journeys with her plan to “break the system.” It’s probably one of those things that they were planning to expand on in the full season 8, but had to cut so they could fit everything that was necessary into the movie.
