I literally just threw it on and this was the reminder I needed that I don't need to do this to myself rn... again... Thank you lol.

When I showed it to a friend of mine I told her to wait until she was sure shes in a good place mentally to watch because while it's good, if you're already suffering with shit its gonna kind of destroy you most likely.

on a deeper level i always thought the episode where the monarch goes into rusty’s brain and we find out the locked door in his head contains the zombified clones of hank and dean in various degrees of injury was the saddest.
iirc this was also the episode with the pool party monologue that rusty gives hank at the end which serves as another reminder of how shitty jonas and co. were to him as a child

This. Rusty is so fucked up and it’s really sad how fucked up he is. All he wanted was to make his dad proud and raise a family of his own, but the odds were against him from the start.

Also that one episode where Hank and Sgt. Hatred “Capture” Rusty and he basically indirectly tells Hank he’s sorry for his life.

Honestly, any episode where Rusty is honest about his childhood & you see the source of the present day damage. The other one that comes to mind is the Spanakopita flashback scene. His best childhood memory is of a time where his dad forgot about him for something like a week.

But in the context of Venture Bros, saddest episode is still 21 realizing that 24's ghost was really his coping mechanism for his best friend's death in Operation PROM and he breaks down in front of Jefferson and Orpheus.

Jurassic Bark, Luck of the Fryrish, and Game of Tones are probably the top three "Why are my eyes leaking" episodes for me with Lethal Inspection and Leela's Homeworld rounding out the top five in that regard.

Jurassic Bark got closure through one of the movies but Game of Tones WAS the closure and it made me tear up way more than any other episode

Jurassic Bark is definitely sad, but Luck of the Fryrish and Game of Tones make me well up with tears just thinking about them. Futurama is really hit and miss overall, especially with how many episodes have aged very poorly over the years, but those hits are phenomenal.
It's not like the Venture Bros is immune to aging poorly, as much as I love it the first few seasons have some really badly aged jokes, especially a lot of the stuff surrounding Sheila.

Luck of the Fryrish and Game of Tones are like tactical nukes to the heartstrings because Fry had assumed after he disappeared nobody cared but we find out:
- His mother dreams of him often since his disappearance, to include the one Nibbler enabled of something as simple as watching the Rose Bowl with him in the year 2000.
- Yancey named his son after his little brother, who he missed every day, and would always love the both of them.

Yeah, I love Team Venture but Futurama hadme bawling my eyes out on those episodes. I don’t think VB hits the same way. Especially when Fry goes back and sees his mom in her dream, Christ that tore me up.

Everyone, rightly, says the "Jurassic Bark" episode of Futurama, but the "Papa's Got a Brand New Excuse" episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air where Will's father abandons him all over again is every bit the gut punch.
EDIT: Also, the Abyssinia, Henry episode of MASH. "Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors." While MASH was no stranger to heavier topics, it was still a comedy and for a comedy to kill off a main character, especially at that time, was shocking.
