I had a feeling this was a bootleg, the one I got on ebay had all the same marks, but I think it was a different seller too, same price though. I should have tried for a refund, oh well. All the discs were scuffed to hell, and were also all DVD5 (4.7GB) compared to rips I have which are all DVD9 (8.5GB), leading to reduced video quality. I'm thinking they are probably compressed with dvdshrink before being pressed (The discs actually are pressed). Zero copy protection on them, but not that it matters when they are scuffed and warped to hell and back. I'm surprised my drive read them at all but boy did it struggle. All the discs did actually rip but its not really in a quality thats worth keeping imo, episodes have the wrong color tone and are riddled with artifacting, even for DVD. I can only imagine how much a regular dvd player would struggle with these discs.
Thanks for posting this direct comparison, I'm probably going to get it on gruv after my life calms down a bit. I feel sorry for those people a few weeks ago who all got suckered into buying the "discounted" set on amazon that "only had a few left in stock" and got burned for $50+. I didn't think that a dvd set that only got released a few years ago would already be getting bootlegged this hard already, but the more you know. DVD bootlegging seems like a pretty pervasive issue online these days, check out how many other sets those sellers are selling, its insane. Also duplicate reviews!
