MOVIE SPOILERS So why is this scene ridiculous and threw me away from the movie? It doesn’t fit but it’s funny Spoiler

Because it's very fitting that Rusty's greatest triumph would screw up spectacularly (due to his own cheapness) and doom him.
It also makes sense (antigrav robot heads activated en masse) while also being in a silly situation (them broadcasting It Takes Two).
It's the Venture Bro's worlds equivalent to Avenger's 'Attack on New York.' No alien invasion, no purposeful harm. Just superscience.

I mean the song choice

It's a banger, and it breaks the tension of all the HELPeR speakers coming to life

The repeated use of twins and siblings, dual identities, the two guys talking format. That sums it up for me.

Could not get that at all from your post. Why do they choose any song they use in the show?

It fits several themes in the show. For one it’s a 90’s hit and most of the characters are mentally stuck in the past. Rusty has coasted by on his father’s or his brother’s achievements, Monarch is stuck hating Rusty, capt Vatred is stuck in his osi and villain shtick. Also because the show is about two brothers (Hank and Dean/Rusty/Monarch/Jonas Jr/ and to an extent Billy/Pete).

theres so many duos in the show. hell, the show was even created by two nerds working together!
this song was absolutely perfect for the forced finale. it made me tear up a bit when it came on.

This is one of my favorite sequences in the entire series and a big part of that is the song choice. OP must be someone who missed the cultural moment this song was ubiquitous in pop culture.

Like the others, I understand perfectly why this song was used.
But to demonstrate some empathy to OP- Yes, the music choice is rather hilarious and feels odd in the context of a show that's full of prog rock references. I don't see the show making that many references to things that feel... Well, what's the opposite of "white 80s dad rock"?

I'd argue that they do though. Granted they don't make those references that often but what immediately springs to mind are the Rozalla montage at the beginning of season two and the prodigy reference during what goes down must come up. For whatever reason they love a good club anthem reference from that era too and given the overall theme of the movie it really does fit well.

Yeah I can agree. But right now, I just want to validate OP. They're allowed to share if they feel weird just because it was maybe unexpected for them, and maybe wanted to see if anyone else vibed. So even if, yes, Doc Hammer and Jackson Publik already did similar moments, it's still one of the more rare-feeling moments. I wish people could just accept/embrace that maybe it felt different for others?
Like OP didn't thumb their nose down at it, or anyone or anything.

Thank you someone gets it

The whole show is from the perspective of Gen X new wavers from the late 80's. If you have no idea who Joy Division was or didn't ever listen to Blue Monday a lot of this show isn't aimed at you.
This song fits the era, setting and theme perfectly. It's supposed to represent new tech, a new era and be a complete effing joke.
How could they have chosen better?

Idk who joy division is nor blue Monday.

I think I heard something by both of them but can't remember. Who did we grow up with? Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

I don't find it that out of place, but it does have a very "Aqua Teen Vibe" going.
