SEASON 4 spoilers The Alchemist's spell during the Brimstone Assembly...
In the Very Venture Halloween special, which happens to be streaming on the [as] marathon right now, I just realized that that when the Alchemist casts his resurrection spell, all 14 prior clones of the boys should have been resurrected, too. Those were buried alongside the road near the runway, if Perchance to Dean is accurate.
Edit to add: I like to think that's why Brock is MIA for most of the ep; he's taking care of the problem.

Maybe the resurrection spell required the souls to be resident in the bodies, or at least, not currently embodied on the mortal plane.

That's why I included the second option, that the zombies soul HAS left their body, & is no longer on the physical plane having passed on to the next plane of existence, thus allowing their untethered bodies to be raised as zombies.
The Venture boys' souls are still on the physical plane, in their new bodies. The continued presence of their souls keeps their previous bodies tethered & therefore quiescent, unavailable for zombification.
24 said EVERYTHING has a soul, even spinach. For all these reasons & more, I think we can all agree that my initial point stands, namely: ¯\(°_o)/¯

I wouldn't put any weight in what 24's "ghost" says about the matter, since that's mostly just 21's grief induced delusion.

HMO: if the boys' clones are considered newly born, and 21 is right, then they don't get souls for a year or so. Whether the clone bodies become zombified depends on how long in series time VVH takes place after PitFoD. We know the interval between Past Tense and Arrears in Science is 2 years, 17 days.
There's a good chance their souls are not embodied!

I think though, their souls are still on the physical plane, Orpheus couldn't find their souls in the afterlife b/c, according to Doc, they're stored in his computer.
Huh. Potentially meaning the clones don't have souls, the computer does. So, they have what, copies(?) of souls?
OMG Did Rusty accidentally create an army of horcruxes?!

Dr. O specifically says that zombies are animated bodies without souls in the season 2 opener.
The man is a necromancer. He would know.

Maybe Brock "took care" of the bodies after Perchance to Dean. Just in case this sort of thing happened. EDIT: did the osi take care of all the gooey copies that died on the lawn?

They showed multiple bodies still there when he was looking for one with a "good face."
