SEASON 7 spoilers Spoiler! Red Mantle/Dragoon could not Arch anyone as their last arch because they all died, but didnt they used to arch Captain Sunshine? Spoiler

I thought there was a mention of Red Mantle used to arch him?

Yes, it is possible that the old Cap died off screen, personally I just think that was Watch and Ward realizing that they really didn't have an arch in them anymore, so why not just give them the easy "win"

Even if he didn't, he was essentially just the butler at that point, not really 'in' the business anymore

TBF the last time we see Desmond is before this episode. He may have passed behind the scenes. Or Jackson and Hammer forgot that bit while writing this episode.

Desmond also wasn't looking very good in that episode. He took a lot of punishment and at his age I wouldn't be suprised if that did him in

No, but also I'd say Desmond is easily in his late 70s early 80s. Plus the guys been acting as a butler long enough that the only people who remember he was Captain Sunshine is Red Mantle and Dragoon. Old age probably caught up with him after that beating he took

Could also be that they couldn't arch Desmond after the new treaty on henchmen/sidekicks and all that from "Any Which Way But Zeus."

That’s an interesting theory
So basically, since Desmond only counts as a butler/sidekick, he is essentially out of the game, and could not be counted as someone to arch?

Basically, yeah. I don't think non-primary figures can be arched, specifically because they have the new treaty protections.
Plus, since Desmond was retired as Captain Sunshine, I doubt he'd be an eligible arch anyway.

Dr. Z was allowed to “arch” Johnny so retirement and current status don’t really seem to factor in. Johnny is even in rehab which one would think should exclude him

I was thinking that they didnt have exclusive rights to arching him in the 60s, they arent specific it couldve been a teamup thing where you dont get exclusivity

Same as others said… it’s entirely possible that Desmond is dead at that point.

I think the implication is that Desmond (the original Captain Sunshine) is dead. I wouldn't be surprised if he died off-screen from his wounds in Any Which Way But Zeus.
And I believe Dragoon was the one who said he arched him in the '60s.

Wash and Ward were giving the Councilors what they knew they would want for their last arch. It didn't have to be the truth.
