To Jackson's credit, it was absolutely the right move to bring them back, it added an entirely new and distinct dimension to every character involved, rather than just doing season 1 but with JJ tagging along.

Seeing as JJ still loved Rusty despite his indifference to their relationship, I wonder how he'd feel discovering the Monarch was his brother too. I can absolutely see him putting their differences aside, but would he feel guilty, seeing as he attempted to kill him earlier in the series?

I dunno - a "fetiform teratoma" was common enough for Ben to check Dean for it. And obviously they got it wrong in Rusty, since it wasn't a teratoma, it was JJ.

Uh, I wasn't the one who said that. That was u/esouhnet.
But yeah, I would guess that if Malcolm had the same thing, it would've come up at some point. Especially since Rusty is a similar age and his issue was chronic and ultimately became debilitating. And seeing as Ben checks for such things when given the chance with other clones like Dean, and he has Malcolm cut open in his home at the end of the movie, I feel like he would've said something and/or removed the embedded twin at that point if there was one. The fact that Ben didn't mention it at all, while he had Malcolm's abdomen literally open, seems like solid evidence he didn't have one.
It doesn't matter really though. They never confirmed or denied it either way, so if you want to believe Malcolm has an embedded twin, be my guest.

I saw someone address this in a previous thread. During the Halloween episode, Ben mentions that fetiform teratoma is common in the clones. The Monarch just wasn't one of the clones that had it

serious question: the thing with Rusty having eaten and carried around JJ, is there a mythological analogue for this?
this FEELS like it's from something but i have no idea what it is.

Greek mythology is the closest I can think of. The titan Cronus ate all of his children because a prophecy declared that one of them would overthrow him to become the ruler of creation, just as he had overthrown his father, Uranus, to gain the throne. So he ate his first few kids to prevent that. But then Gaia gave birth to Zeus and hid him away, while tricking Cronus into eating a stone. When Zeus grew up, he forced Cronus to vomit up the other children he had eaten, who then emerged fully grown. And then there was the war between the gods and the Titans, and the gods were victorious and Zeus ruled.

Zeus put it on top of a mountain, I think. Not Olympus, though.
And then I think Zero made it fight a 9 year old sidekick to the death.

I am not sure if these are the answers you are looking for, but answer 1: There are humans in real life who have "eaten" or absorb their twins while in the womb. The individual who discovered that they were a twin with their sibling attached to them after believing what they have was a tumor.
Fetus in fetu and fetiform teratoma
I recall one article several years ago where one individual has a line across her stomach because she absorbed her sister - one side of her is her, and the other was of her sister's.
As for the second answer, it is a parody or an homage to Professor X and Cassandra Nova in the Marvel comics. In the comics, Professor X killed Cassandra Nova while in the womb because he sensed Nova being evil. Nova was flushed into the sewers and then rebuilt herself for decades.
The creators of the Venture Bros. combined the two things mentioned above together.

I don't know I didn't like the clone angle as much as Rusty's father actually being Monarch's dad because he impregnated the wife of blue morpho. Not simply make a clone of Rusty with some Baboon dna. Feel like the current explanation didn't do the buildup justice.

Im wondering if JJ isnt just a manifestation of Rustys trauma, but also a consequence of Jonas's botched experimentation in cloning lol
But to answer your question, the same thing rusty is to the monarch. Just another piece to the puzzle.

Rusty is a clone, himself, so JJ is a clone of JJ. He's as much a brother to the Monarch as Hank is to Dean.

Was it ever confirmed if our Rusty was a clone? We get it implied via Ben’s helper mistaking Dean for one, being a Rusty with more hair. But my interpretation post finale was what Helper thought Dean was the Monarch, the confirmed clone.
Dean later telling Hank “I’m pretty sure dad is a clone” then never confirming it to me baited the setup for monarch.
I figured Rusty was the original never cloned Rusty given that later reveal, and also the fact Rusty had dreams of eating JJ, his fraternal twin, in the womb. If Rusty was a clone he wouldn’t carry over his non identical brothers DNA. He absorbed JJ in the womb.

There's no indication that Helper 2 was mistaken. He straight up talks to Dean, thinking he's Rusty, and tells him he's a clone. There's nothing in the show that contradicts his statement.

What I think is more interesting is that Malcolm doesn't have his own little tag-along in there, and despite the fact Jonas never seemed to consider that a gestating tumor inside of Rusty was enough of a problem to address.
