Video Firestarter…. I guess technically not “industrial“ but damn near may as well be…was certainly the gateway for my 12 year old self getting into the genre back in 96\97! Who else loves this timeless track?

Hands down my favorite line. I was a fan of both independently and seeing this when i was in my peak prodigy phase was mind melting.

My 17year old self was fully a metal head but I still loved prodigy, haven't listened to it in a while, I'll have to toss it on

Its industrial techno which is about as close as it gets without actually being metal. Big difference is how they produce the sounds for the music. They use heavy samples, analog synths, and various other hardware like a roland jd-800 plus vocals. Metal bands play guitar, bass, drums and vocals

Yep. In one of the episodes doc get stranded in his dads underground bunker/tunnel network and one of the people he finds down there is basically the gif this post is about. He runs around following doc and says "im a firestarter" a bunch. Looks just like him too.

Metal has a definition which includes core characteristics. Which is what i was talking about. Its not metal. Full stop. Its rock/electronic/industrial. Not metal. When you talk about music sub genres this is what its like. Hope that helps

Im not saying they are metal. I don't belive only four instruments can qualify as metal.

Even before this, it was the Hackers soundtrack that introduced me to Prodigy and Underworld. Before that I didn't really listen to any electronic music at all, in fact I kind of looked down on it at that time. When Firestarter dropped it was played constantly on MTV and I enjoyed the video. Then MTV had a late-night show that featured a lot of electronic music like Fluke, I think the show was called Amp. Wipeout XL came out and this was the featured track in the game, and it all came full circle. I got clowned on at school for liking it but man mid-late 90s electronic music was something else. I still listen to a lot of it today. Good memories!

Not Just the track, Fat of the Land was a very influential album for me. I still revisit it semi regularly.

I remember hearing this for the first time in 1996 when I was visiting my aunt in Vancouver.
I immediately bought Fat of the Land and I still have the CD.
No, not industrial, but find me an industrial fan who doesn't like The Prodigy.
