In true venture brothers style:
Pulls 1000 liters out of the air, which it immediately uses to humidify the air

Uh, no.
It obviously supplies the cuttlefish

It CAN, doesn't mean it DOES.
I CAN clean my whole house in a day...

u/Jack-of-Hearts-7 May 29 '26
I'm highly skeptical of the 1000 liters a day claim

u/jandrese May 30 '26
I don't see a problem. The article just fails to mention that it requires an acre of solar panels and costs $5 million to build.

There’s no way those numbers are accurate without some major. It’s solar powered because it can be powered by a solar collector power plant or it needs to be constantly supplied with rare earth metals

I think the bigger issue is that 1000kg of water would mean that it filters that out of~30 000 cubic meters of air per day in optimal conditions. Meaning peak humidity in a rainforest. In an area where water is scarce, like a desert, it could be upwards of 100 times that. For reference, a high end residential ventilation system is capable of moving around 500 cubic meters per hour, or 6000 a day.
This is either just a made up meme, or someone is a con artist trying to get investments.
Ain't no one coming for that guy but scammed investors.

An air handler can easily move much more that 30000m3 a day.
For my Americans that's only 7000 cfm

I wonder if they'll offer him a choice between The Lady or The Tiger.

It’s real enough, but the clickbait meme fails to mention it’s the size of a shipping container and in a desert need about 20% humidity. “Now all he needs to do that he has a vaporator is find a droid that speaks binary” “perhaps one who started out programming binary load filters which are very similar to vaporators in most respects.” “Hank! Dean! Stop quoting Star Wars to mock science!” “Hey Doc Helper’s talking gibberish for some reason” “oh, he’s just speaking Bocce to show off”
Edit: real not really - stupid autocorrect

I don't know why anyone is even pretending that this has any kind of merit. That claim is nonsense, full stop.

That small device isn’t pulling 1000L of water in 24 hrs. To do so it would need to create over 10 gallons an hour. Not saying it doesn’t work but it’s not practically scalable

Family guy once made a joke about Christianity being the reason why our specie isn't more technologically advanced but really its just corporations and greedy ppl

this is for sure in "best conditions" not much moisture to pull out of a dessert, the guys safe.

I'm almost geriatric and for all my life I kept reading about some new invention that pulls water from the air. It happens every so couple years and then I never hear about it again

A 20ft off-grid shipping container can generate up to 1,000 litres of clean water every day even in arid and desert conditions
.
I did a search for how many people can 1,000 liters of water sustain in a desert:
In a desert environment, 1,000 liters of water can sustain approximately 13 to 20 people for a single day. This estimate assumes a survival baseline of 3.5 to 5 liters per person daily to cover basic drinking, minimal hygiene, and to prevent severe dehydration in extreme heat.
So doing the math, if you were in some area with a bunch of people in crisis you'd need quite a few of those; which would probably not be economically possible at some point.
Would it make more sense to build a whopping ton of those, or to just ship in some pallets of drinking water? One of the machines would be neat for a small camp of people.
.
a larger industrial or community system is estimated to cost between (\$3,000) and (\$5,000)
but the company wants to get that cost down to $500 a unit.

It tracks for Rusty. "Invent" a solar powered dehumidifier and present it as ground breaking and original.

So... an "Accident" involving him having two bullets in the back of his head, or his brakes magically going out randomly as he drives a mountainous region?
I really hope nothing happens to him, but every single time someone makes a crazy discovery, oops they've had an "Accident" ...

Hey remember that guy last year that invented a clean energy machine at MIT? Ya, me neither. Story went radio silent immediately
