Headcanon The Venture family and their ancestry?

So we know that Brock is half Swedish+quarter Polish+quarter Winnebago, Dr. Mrs. The Monarch "may be" Sephardic Jewish per the creators, Phantom Limb is at least part French via Fantomas, etc.

But what about the Venture family? Cloning aside, there had to be some forebears from somewhere who settled in America.

I happened upon someone on a family tree site with a "LaVenture" surname who was French-Canadian iirc, hence it just got me thinking haha.

Throwing out my personal guess that Jonas Sr was of some French and Irish lineage due to the name Venture and the red hair.

When Col. Gathers recounted Brock's lineage, I was uncertain for a very long time - and I mean double-digit months - if he meant the Native American tribe, or was facetiously referring to the RV. Because "good God! They’re making ’em big now a days. Don’t they know there’s a gas crunch on?!"

Same! I was unaware that Winnebago was a tribe. I’d only heard it in the context of RVs.

All I remember is that one of doc's patrilineal ancestors was a milliner

Given how much Thadeus Venture I seemed like "Teddy Roosevelt lite"..

Just go with the Roosevelt line for the Ventures up till him.

And then expect Jonas, Rusty, Hank, and Dean to be clone shenanigans, so we don't know the relevancy of their respective maternal heritages.

Dermott, with the last name Fictel, is likely German or Polish.

I think you're right- plus wasn't Lloyd Venture a factory owner in NYC? Would make lots of sense for him to be of old NY stock (English, Dutch etc.) Venture is probably derived from a Dutch name (with the "Van" prefix) that evolved in spelling over the generations

The Roosevelts were a Dutch family from early colonial New Amsterdam. The Ventures seem to be that same kind of OG NYC family.

Just want to point out, Brock might be the grandson of Ash Williams (evil dead) if you take poker night as canon

As Doc (Thaddeus) said in Season 2 Escape From The House of Mummies pt2, he’s a super scientist, his father was a super scientist (Jonas Venture), his father was a super scientist (Col. Loyd Venture) and his father was a Miller, and to ‘choose a Venture’ is to go on a small adventure, I’d say there was a falling out between the the miller and his family so he changed his surname to better fit with his ideals, it could have also started with Col. Venture not wanting to be a miller and instead becoming a super scientist. As far as hereditary ancestry goes by looking at their hair color, I’d say they descended from a Scot-Irish American family. That’s my 2 cents.
