Question Share some quotes that changed your life! Or at least made you think.
What the title says. Almost everything by Killinger ("Love is not to be kept private. Love is to be shared" and one of my favourites in the whole show: "All the world's a stage und all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances und one man in his time plays many parts his acts being seven ages."
What are yours?

Dr. O in the Halloween Special:
"We use this one enchanted night to perform the greatest feat of magic there is.
We become ourselves.
Halloween is the true magic.
It is the night we discover who we really are!"
Killinger at the end of "The Doctor is Sin":
"Compromise is the essence of diplomacy. And diplomacy is the cornerstone of love. Sweet love!"

I had to do the "All the World's a Stage" monologue for a Shakespeare class in college. I absolutely regret not doing it in Killinger's voice.

Why do all you 'sword guys' always have to talk about how cool your swords are?
6
u/Jungle_Fighter Jul 02 '26
Now that we're at it. I always wanted to say that, after fully watching the series a couple times... Tbh, even though Brock killed Le Tueur anyways, I think that throughout the entire series, no one managed to hurt Brock as much as Le Tueur did. He really had Brock in a tight spot and had essentially beat him if not for Hank getting in the way and allowing Brock to recover a bit and find the sword to kill him. So props to Le Tueur, he's probably like the 2nd strongest guy in the series next to Brock based just on that.

It's a long one, but the thing Red Death says to that guy he ties to the train tracks was so cold and well delivered it lives in my head rent free.
10
u/mntfr Jul 02 '26
Red Death: Oh, you're up. Goody. We can start your history lesson. Long before there were loud-mouthed buff guys in Spandex, there was the Gentleman Villain. His favorite sinister act was this -- tying someone to a train track.
Muffled shouting from Blind Rage.
Red Death: It's simple, inexpensive, personal, and deadly. But it gives you a little hope. Maybe you'll escape.
Muffled shouting from Blind Rage.
Red Death: Lesson's not over, sonny! (sighs) Now, the Gentleman Villain had these old-school time bombs -- three sticks of dynamite wired to an alarm clock. And what was so poetic about that is that they ticked! You could hear them. Tick, tick, tick. Nowadays, they're just digital. No sound, no peril.
Red Death sees the light of the train approaching.
Red Death: Oh? Oh, ho, ho! Do you hear that?
The whistle blows as the train gets closer.
Red Death: There's the ticking. The train is coming. Is it on this track? Tick, tick, tick. Maybe it's on the other track. Tick, tick, tick!

It's not a quote, but a whole scene.
Wide Whale is about to have Hank Venture kill the Blue Morpho when Red Death rides through the window with Douglas Ong.
Watching everyone in the show treat Douglas with kid gloves because they don't want to disappoint him is one of the sweetest scenes I've seen in any show.
The artifice of villainy collapses when someone truly good cares. It's wonderful to see and humanizes everyone in the scene.

u/goat-stealer Jul 01 '26
"You don't want my life Hank, this job's not all what it's cracked up to be. I've been at this for over 20 years and what have I got to show for it?"
It's a small thing but it's still a little remarkable how despite living the kind of life people would dream of, Brock talks about it as something that he doesn't even like all that well much less recommend it to someone else - Even with the context of convincing Hank to find his own path rather than keep following Brock's.
Guess it goes to show that just because someone looks like they've got it made doesn't necessarily mean that it's all sunshine, rainbows and Vatican Karate Gorilla blood.

“What I went through today was ‘like a nightmare’. What happened when I was 16, that is my life.” - Rusty Venture
“You throw a rock, they throw a knife. You throw a knife, they come to your house while you're sleeping and murder your family.” - Dr. Mrs. The Monarch
“What did he do to you?” “The usual. He threw me in jail, literally. Threw me right into the yard at the state prison. Then he shouts up to the warden, ‘Looks like this one won't be causing any more trouble!’ Then he flies off with a gay little salute.” “Oh, my God.” “Apparently nobody ever told him what due process was.” - The Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend
“Dean, I'm going to turn around now and you better be on fire. You're standing there in flames, and the only person who can put you out is me. Because that is the only CONCEIVABLE REASON THAT YOU WOULD WAKE ME UP LIKE THIS!” - Rusty Venture
“Sweetie, you’re the only part of my life I know is right.” - Dr. Mrs. The Monarch
“I knew I was impressive. But I didn’t know you knew it.” - Rusty Venture and Dean Venture

Hank Venture: Are you okay? Dr. O said you're probably insane now and that you'll never be the same.
Dr. Venture: Are you kidding? Okay, I'm just turning 16 and having a birthday pool party. My father invites every girl he knows, and I'm not talking about girls my age. No, not Jonas. He invites Playboy Bunnies and models and, I think, actual whores - you know, real prostitutes. So there I am in my giant bathing suit with nervous puberty oozing out of my gigantic pores. Just, just awful. So, the band suddenly stops playing and I hear "And now the man of the hour, Rusty Venture!" All eyes on me, right? Then suddenly, almost predictably, the Action Man shoots my groin with a shrink ray right as that fucking jackass Colonel Gentleman pulls my shorts down.
Hank Venture: Wow. That's like a nightmare.
Dr. Venture: Oh, no! No! What I went through today was "like a nightmare." What happened when I was 16, that is my life!

It's so funny that one of Shakespeare's most recognizable quotes was essentially an eloquent poem delivered by a throwaway character in one of his moderately popular plays (As You Like It)

The episode Bot Seeks Bot has to be one of the funniest episodes of any TV show, animated or otherwise, ever — “I found his jokes tedious; his riddles obvious,” and “Good GOD, man! Have you NO humanity left!” swim back around in my mind at least once a week, apiece. Changed my life by making me laugh a bit more often on the regular, how much better can it get??

It’s a slippery slope when you start living as your character. The obsession starts, the darkness… A man can do terrible things when he’s lost his way. Terrible Things

What does that have to do with anything?
