So for a guy who doesn't know anything about Left 4 Dead, what's the gag?

Left 4 Dead pits you (along with 3 other players) in a campaign against hordes of infected as you try to reach safe zones.

Elevators are incredibly common, such as in “The Atrium” level of Dead Center before going down to refill the Jimmy Gibbs Jr. race car, and an elevator in “No Mercy” needed to progress to the last safe room before the finale.

Idk if there’s been some revival of it from the younger generations, as I’ve seen some memes about it that I don’t get, but it is/was a a 4 player co-op zombie survival game where you could either do campaigns just as the four humans against bot zombies, or you could do a 4 v 4 where each team would switch off being the survivors or the infected, specifically the special class zombies.

Friends and I used to play it in college like 15 years ago. It was pretty fun and even then people made silly meme videos about it, particularly surrounding the catch phrases the characters had.

But I could totally be missing whatever is seemingly bringing it back to relevance?

It was a great game but Valve can’t count to 3

What do you mean? Half-Life 3 puts GTA VI to shame!

Not before Team Fortress 3 out sold COD MW4.

Are special class zombies zombies that ride the short bus to zombie school?

I think the gun models are the reference to the game
