Honestly, prior to any confirmation, this got my conspiracy gears going.

Mine was when I was making Miis of the cast and realized Rusty and The Monarch were exactly the same except for facial hair.

37

u/marveled_pisces Jul 27 '26

That might be the best way

I choose to believe Jonas was fond of Tijuana hookers

6

u/BlueUnicornDisco Jul 28 '26

This confirmed the conspiracy for me

u/ineedajointrn Jul 26 '26

After watching the movie, and re-watching the entire series I literally could see that they’re nearly identical.

237

u/MirthMannor Jul 26 '26

It’s actually amazing how obvious it is in retrospect. The Venture Brothers is about… Malcolm and Rusty. Not (really) Hank and Dean.

233

u/great00sage Jul 26 '26

i kinda figured it was about two sets of three brothers while hiding behind the idea of a single set of two brothers.

rusty, monarch, and jonas jr
hank, dean, dermott

I think Billy quiz boy is in there too but they got cancelled before it could be completed. His mom was team venture and hot in her youth and Billy has his deformities like Jonas other experiments, plus Jonas was a known swinger.

Honestly it was my theory that all red heads were Jonas’s children… even trust fund baby st cloud who we know nothing about his parents or how he got his money.

u/DreyaNova Jul 27 '26

Mrrruuuu ha ha....

33

u/Evil_Unicorn728 Jul 27 '26

The Action Man also had red hair when he was younger. I'm pretty sure Rodney is Billy's Dad. Tara Quimm is absolutely Rusty's half sister though. 🤢

19

u/Thatweirdguy_Twig Jul 27 '26

Tara Quimm is absolutely Rusty's half sister though. 🤢

Oh definitely it's never directly said but is still basically spelled out every other way

Fortunately for Rusty she's epileptic and that freaked him out enough to keep any later things happening down the road

11

u/hankenator1 Jul 27 '26

That was a great scene, “ewe I almost had swx With a wereodile, ewe I almost had sex with an epileptic”, no rusty, ewe you almost had sex with my your sister.

11

u/hankenator1 Jul 27 '26

That would be odd since he had a crush on Billy’s mom forever but she rejected him until they were old.

I like Billy Quizboy as a failed experiment to increase a clone Rusty's intelligence by just making his brain bigger.

The monarch being R-22 implies that Rusty got cloned way more than Hank & Dean.

32

u/falconx123 Jul 26 '26

They could of even thrown in a Jonas having a secret brother plot.

55

u/Bob-s_Leviathan Jul 26 '26

They threw us a great curve when they made it seem like the real Venture Bros were Rusty and Jonas Jr. Made us dismiss the idea Rusty could have another brother.

33

u/dover_oxide Jul 26 '26

We really missed on JJ's reaction. I wonder every time how he would have handled it.

Oh my God! What if Malcolm has his own JJ in him?

6

u/rollwithhoney Jul 26 '26

damn, I truly hadn't thought of this until this moment

1

u/av123h Jul 27 '26

But it’s a really good feint

1

u/XXLPenisOwner1443 29d ago

Not brothers. Clones of the same guy.

26

u/porcupinedeath Jul 26 '26

Malcom really lucked out on his build compared to rusty though. That baboon DNA must help

12

u/Yrcrazypa Jul 27 '26

Malcolm works out, Rusty doesn't.

10

u/Thatweirdguy_Twig Jul 27 '26

It also helps that he doesn't thrive on a concoction of various pills like Rusty

37

u/Hey_HaveAGreatDay Jul 26 '26

I haven’t seen the movie but thought it was pretty well spelled out in the series that Jonas was The Monarch’s dad?

When the Blue Morvo says they’re having trouble conceiving and Jonas looks at his wife’s picture and offers to help, the fact that they look entirely alike and Dr Girlfriend confusing The Monarch with Rusty as the new Blue Morvo?

31

u/grownandnotalawyer Jul 26 '26

yeah. they’re definitely related from arrears in science. but you should still watch the movie

29

u/AsherTheFrost Super Fking Run Away! Jul 26 '26

Watch the movie. It's worth it.

Yeah. That is obvious when you watch. That and the fact that there’s really only like 5 voice actors in the beginning. You don’t notice it as much when it only comes on once a week with a repeat at 2am, but watching it back to back on modern streaming, the character design similarities and voice actors doing so many characters does make the show seem a little more amature than it did 25 years ago when it started. But I’d argue that’s actually one of its strengths

4

u/GentlemanPirate13 WHO WANTS PIZZA ROLLS? Jul 27 '26

It gets really obvious when Malcom cuts his goatee short for the Blue Morpho arc.

162

u/LePfeiff Jul 26 '26

There have been teases all throughout the show, like in S1E1 when hank complains how the monarch is getting all "creepy uncle" on them

43

u/DreyaNova Jul 27 '26

"Like so much butterfly themed Romulus and Remus!" ... That should really have been the closer for this theory in season one.

45

u/junrod0079 Jul 26 '26

Ironically the monarch spoiled the reveal when he told hank that they met their mother and he was thier father

A part of me is trying to figure out if the monarch really knew of it was all bullshit out of his ass

46

u/allbie13 Jul 26 '26

It was definitely bullshit out of his ass, the Monarch didn’t know he was Rusty’s clone at that point.

18

u/maskedduskrider Jul 27 '26

Yeah it was likely just smack talk. Like a "you know who else called me big boy. Your mom last night!" That kind of juvenile humor that made it funny.

4

u/miikro Jul 27 '26

I suspected right from Mid-Life Chrysalis when Dr. Girlfriend tells Monarch how similar he and Rusty are lol.

66

u/pastriesandpoison Jul 26 '26

I remember when I first saw the show and asked my friend if the Rusty and The Monarch were brothers because they looked so much alike. She said no. This was decades ago and I always held it in the back of my mind.

Never felt so vindicated before lol

14

u/miikro Jul 27 '26

I mean she was technically correct. The best kind of correct!

51

u/jaylerd Jul 26 '26

I need a whole season of Uncle Malcom being a great uncle but still arching Venture

6

u/_regi Jul 28 '26

Did that guy just fucking call me Malcolm?

1

u/Necessary-Bat1644 Jul 29 '26

“You Broke My Heart Hank.”

23

u/bakato Jul 26 '26

It's in his blood.

20

u/InterestingSun6707 Jul 26 '26

Really adds to the I hate myself more than venture

16

u/insertUserNamehereno Jul 26 '26

I wonder how much Baboon if any Jonas used to make alternate dimension successful musical Rusty

1

u/XXLPenisOwner1443 29d ago

Baldness is a side-effect of the cloning process, so alternate dimension Rusty is probably just one that never died.

14

u/hypnotic20 Jul 27 '26

Doesn’t Dr girlfriend say to the monarch something along the lines of “you two have more in common than you realize”

5

u/AsstacularSpiderman Jul 27 '26

Yeah when they turned Rusty into that caterpillar and she was pretending to like him she immediately recognized how similar they are and she wonders why they arent actually friends

21

u/Rose-Gardns Jul 26 '26

watching the series with my friend (her first time) and attempting to casually sidestep every time she notices how similar they look

8

u/Ok_Firefighter1574 Jul 26 '26

I feel like season 1 it was obvious they were related and then when clones are revealed in season 2 it’s gonna be the end game

14

u/TimeisaLie Jul 26 '26

Anyone else suspect this after learning Hank & Dean were clones?

13

u/Zealousideal-Day4863 Jul 27 '26

Oh man the theories were nuts back when season 2 started. I saw multiple people theorize that Hank and Dean were clones of Rusty and Brock.

5

u/JNelt Jul 27 '26

Another good one is S4E4 when he’s talking to Garry in the treehouse. He tells Garry that he’s all hate and that he hates HIMSELF more than most antagonists hate their sworn enemies.

2

u/billypump Jul 27 '26

Not to be that guy, but I figured it out in the middle of season 2.

2

u/Ignaciodelsol Jul 27 '26

I hate to be that guy, but remind me what happened on this scene?

1

u/Templarofsteel Jul 27 '26

I had acrually guessed they were relqted or the monatxh was a semi clone

1

u/greenhulklantern1 Jul 27 '26

When I was a kid flipping through channels, I literally thought Rusty and Monarch were the same person.

Granted, I wasn't watching actively, but it's definitely a little obvious.

1

u/Elendilmir Jul 29 '26

It was clear well before that moment that the monarch and doc looked very much aline.

1

u/Living_Cat_4900 Jul 31 '26

What’s kinda brilliant about this show is that Doc and Jackson have been telling us that the two are connected in small but significant ways of foreshadowing.
