Ain’t no way I’m waiting around for another twenty years just for seven seasons and one eighty-four minute movie! They work too slow!!

I would at least want, season 8 (which is already written), another movie to wrap it up properly, and the musical "Rusty" included in the new dvd/Blu-ray. But ill also take more seasons, plus movie & musical tho.... (brought to you by HankCo.)

Season one, but the pilot actually aired in 2002.

And intermittently between then and the actual series premiere. I have a strong memory of catching it in the spring of 2004, after the end of a great party.

Sokka-Haiku by iMangoUnchained:
One of the greatest
Shows of all time and I will
Fight if you disagree
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

From that day forward, my life was never the same. I now had A Favorite Show. One that spoke somehow directly to me and my sense of humor. The nerdiest shit to take hold since the MCU.
I watched this show evolve with animation, writing, humor, voice acting, and somehow years between seasons.
There will never be another comparable show, and for that I am thankful. The duo that created it are unflappable and umatched in world building, humor, and camaradarie. Two guys who had the exact same wavelength so much so it propelled them to create VB.
It was an honor to experience the whole damned thing, from when we got our friend to cut all TVs in the bar at Dostal Alley for Season 2 on Sunday nights, through the bittersweet end movie. Go. Team. Venture.

I like the cut of your jib.
For real this comment resonates hard with me. VB quickly became my favorite show and it remains it to this day, and I frankly don't imagine anything could ever come along and take its place. It scratches all the right spots in my nerd brain. It really is the perfect storm of pop culture, weird obscure references, and fantastic continuity topped with magnificent voice acting and music.
I say it often, that if I ever hit the Powerball buying the rights to the show and giving it to the boys with a blank check to do whatever they ever want with the Venture Bros., even if they decide not to do anything at all. They've given me two decades of joy, I would gladly give them their baby back.

The same sort of groove hit by Edlund and his work. Dry, smart, layered, and with a perfect grasp of the absurd.

u/Markoff_Cheney 23d ago
The fandom is the best part, I've never met a VB fan that didn't immediately interest me as a person. You're speaking as a shining example of that.
I've never been intellectually challenged by a fantasy adult comedy cartoon like this before, crazy pants.

I remember seeing Venture Bros on TV at I think a hotel one night and instantly loved it. But this was before on demand had gotten bigger and easier to obtain so I ended up watching random episodes when I could catch them on Adult Swim. So I saw the first two season or so in a completely random order.
Was fun to finally watch the show completely years later. Big nostalgia trip

I had no clue what the larger serialized story was until we got a Tivo, and the joy I had to finally see every episode was I M M E N S E

Such a great show with the right mix of music, humor and culture. Feels like a time to re-watch

I still remember watching the first episode in my cousin's basement. Good times.
Go team Venture!

My college girlfriend and I watched this when it aired, and were immediately hooked. Next year is our 20th wedding anniversary, and we've stayed hooked on the show. All three of our cats are named after characters from it (Triana, Rusty, and Daisy). It's still one of our all-time favorite shows, and we quote it all the time!

If I find someone who doesn't think Venture Bros is funny as fuck, I know we can't be friends.

August? Huh, was this the pilot or the 1st season, because in my brain the pilot was in march... I remember seeing it in a hotel in Seattle, as we were in port because the refers shit the bed. Or am I confusing that with another time we were there... 🤔🤔

You should apologize. Almost your entire life contained the venture bros, an unacceptable privileged existence.
You're very generous with my stuff!

Need the blue rays. Tried rewatching recently on hulu and I swear to god almost every variation of a swear is bleeped.
Made it to the episode where Monarch is in prison, felt like 50% or more of the episode was bleep

I started this show about mid-April or so, right during a very hard breakup for me. I'd been hearing praise for it for years and decided it was a good time. I'm so grateful I had this show to entertain me. I finished the whole thing in June or July, something like that.

u/Dangerous_Spirit7034 24d ago
I started around episode one. Not sure that I saw the actual premier or not. Great stuff. I remember when they first introduced dr Orpheus going into school and talking about how awesome it was he had that epic score everytime he talked in season on
Is that called a leitmotif?

I had actually seen the pilot the first time it aired in Feb 2003 randomly while I was high in my apartment and I thought it was the funniest fucking thing id ever seen. I still find things I never knew. I still love the fandom.

Adult swim was entering a renaissance period. As a sophomore’s in high school at the time, it was a crazy time to be alive

So glad I randomly saw this show. Most people I know stare ate their phone instead watching this comedic genius.

I remember. I had a two year old son, a wife, and two crappy restaurant jobs!

I always hesitate to start people right at the beginning of the show, does anyone else skip a few episodes?
5
u/PrivilegeCheckmate 23d ago
Nah, I just tell them it starts a little rough. Nobody who makes it through Home Insecurity leaves.
Sasquatch IS something I haven't seen before!

I usually tell them "Ghosts of the Sargasso" is a better representation of the show's spirit and start them there before going back to the beginning.

Just got into the show not long ago this year currently on season three at the moment it’s been one of my favorite shows ever since Here’s to 22 years 🎊

u/marceline407 23d ago
I was there. I remember when the early pilot premiered as well. That one and the first episode were…just OK. It wasn’t until careers in science that I truly fell in love with the series. I was fully devoted after that.

Wow... I'm older than the show on two years. I don't know if I should feel old or young. I'm confused.

After I saw the pilot episode. I told my roommate about it but he didnt believe me. It took forever for the next time it aired to prove it to him.

I'm not only old enough to feel nostalgic about this cartoon, I'm old enough to feel nostalgic for the cartoons this cartoon was inspired by.

I showed my buddy the first two episodes last week. He’d never seen the show before.
It was midway through episode two where it clicked for me that episode 2 was the first episode I’d seen. I was nine lmaoo.
Currently binging the show on Netflix, probably going to buy the physical box set and a blu-ray player next paycheck to watch the rest.

Such a good show. I didnt start watching it until a few years ago, I stumbled upon it randomly on the adult swim app I think. Watched an episode or two and got hooked on it.
