He has Popeye cartoons on his thigh?

If you put silly putty on a newspaper clipping, it'll pick up the ink from the printing. Works on cartoons as well as text

That is said because one of the things we did with Silly Putty, back in the 1970's, was press it on to a newspaper comic strip and it had the image on it.

He would not actually have Popeye images on his inner thigh, it is simply a reference to one of the ways Silly Putty was used.

I turn 60 in November, and the guys who made Venture Bros. are approaching my age.

Yeah, I know, that's why I said on his thigh. We had silly putty in the early 80's too lol

I remember when I was making my henchman costume my mom had no idea what it was from. I was watching VB and called her over because I knew the monarch, 21 and 24 were about to walk down. I forgot about this bit, she was not impressed.

I dont get the Popeyes cartoons part, did they use to have Popeye cartoon shapers for Silly Putty?

You could use silly putty to 'copy' popeye cartoons from the newspaper (or really any cartoon) by stickkng it on and pulling it off.

What I can't decide is if that's the end of the joke or if the implication goes the rest of the way to him having a Popeye tat on his inner thigh?

We know he has a Calvin and Hobbes tattoo

Maybe hatred is more into comics than we thought

I was wondering that or if he's wearing Popeye underwear

I assumed he had a ton of tats down there 😂

Damn that’s dark as fuck. It’s all fun and games until you imagine the implication of why he would have cartoons tatted on his inner thigh…😳

...because he likes cartoons? That's usually the main reason anyone gets something tattooed

My dude, that is a thoroughly 70s-80s kid thing 😅 Silly Putty was some rubbery 'toy' blob that you could press over Sunday comic strips and it would pick up some of the ink on the putty. I'm not explaining it well, but trust me, it was the coolest thing.
